OOC: Fel, go ahead and finish the conversation that you were having with bterrik.
OOC: Thanks for the promotion.
The barabels began targeting the imperial ship from a distance, defeating the deflector systems and picking away at the engines. As the lasers started pciking away at the back of the imperial ship, the torpedoes were loaded into the tubes.
The small clawcraft was faster than the freigher, but the engines were damaged and being destroyed by the pirates, and the ship was slowing down, unable to defend without its sheilds.
Barabel, where did you get that? I'm supposed to post my own damage.
Derek's aft shields went from green to yellow. He rerouted all weapons power and forward shield power into his rear shields. They went back to green.
He activated his repulsorlifts to push him sideways. He then pulled his stick up and down, turning left and right.
So far so good. He retracted that when he looked behind to see the torpedoes. He pushed his stick down did a snap roll and launched some chaff. A torpedoe hit the chaff and detonated.
He rerouted some energy to his engines. Turning the stick left he did a snap roll followed by pulling the stick back. He launched somemore chaff. A lot of chaff. Two more torpedoes were down. That still left about five and they were at the most two minutes away.
He performed a roll and dropped all his remaining chaff. Two more down. He flew in a zig-zag pattern, torpedoes a minute away. Enemy freighter not too far behind. He reached down and pulled his hyperspace levers.
He stayed in hyperspace for a few minutes, he was at .2 lightyears away from the system. He looked up at the sealed breach. Judging it, he thought it could hold a few more hours. He typed coordinates into the navicomputer and pulled the hyperspace levers, jumping to Nirauan.
Two YVH plumeted away firing hopelessly at the ship. One of the YVH grabbed onto the cargo doors and walked into the bay, it's legs clamped to the ground. He walked to a wall facing the bigger ship, it used a fusion cutter to cut a hole in it. Another YVH managed to grab onto the hull of the Gorin's Glory and was clawing it was to a quad.
The old Wokie greeted the Captain, "I am Rrwookro, good to meet you Captain."
"What can I do for you?" the Captain replied.
"I'm not sure whether you no this but since the defeat of the Yuuzhan Vong and the fall of galactic government The Kasyyyk system has been in upheavel," the elder Wookie said solemnly. "The Trandoshans have restarted their war with my kind."
"What does this have to do with me?" the Captain asked.
"The Trandoshans have a lot of underworld links that help them get weapons to fight this war," he said ignoring the question. "That is why I am here. I have met with some old friends of mine and they have sold some weapons to me. Unfortunately my ship has been locked down by the authorities and I have no way of returning home or transporting the weapons." He pointed to a stack of crates. "This is where you come in. Your job is to ferry me and my cargo to Kasyyyk. I expect some resistance from the Trandoshans on our way to my homeplanet. So do you except?"
"Damn." Gorin said as the alarm began to ring again. "I've got it, Tech's can you reroute power from the Sensors into the hull, charging it?"
"Yeah, but thats gonna take some time, give me 5 minutes."
"Great, just great. Untill then We've got to deal with these 2 droids. I knew that he would backsatb me, damn him."
By this time the YVH Droid had cut a hole big enough to get into the ship proper. Before the whole ship depressureised Gorin quickly closed the bay doors. Meanwhile anybody with a gun was gathering it up, prepared to shoot if the thing threatened them, although they were more likely to run away.
OOC: Fel Both you and RDG have been repeatedly talking your way through completely impossible situations end escaping in nonsensical ways. Let's take your previous post, for example.
Your ship was never more than seconds ahead of the freighter. You never left the atmosphere, and I remember you saying that you dropped back down below the atmosphere to fix your hull. The fastest a space-fighter can go in atmosphere is about 1000 km. per hour. The most primitive missles ever built travelled twice that, and modern missiles travel many times that said amount.
How could the topedoes be minutes behind you when they travell so many times faster than you and you were mere seconds ahead of me when they were fired?
No ship can outrun/dodge a missile, much less several missiles coming at them, even if it were in perfect running condition. Your ship also is less maneuverable than it could be because it is in an atmosphere and in the gravity well of a planet. The maneuvers you would have had to perform to temporarily shake off ONE missile would have caused you to break several bones and black out from the g-forces
This entire air battle sequence has not taken more than a minute At Most. There were never minutes where you were flying ahead.
Most importantly, you didn't leave the atmosphere, much less the planet's mass shadow. Leaving the planet would have taken ten minutes for a fighter, assuming it is in perfect condition, which your's isn't. By pulling the hyperspace lever in the mass shadow, you were commiting suicide. No ship can travel into hyperspace in a mass shadow, much less in an atmosphere. The result would be the equivalent of your ship hitting the planet at the speed of light.
Also, how did your sheild continually recharge, and still keep your repulsors and your engines running at full. Unless your clawcraft has a power generator the size of a star destroyer's your sheilds would have long since burned out Not to come back again until they were physically repaired
RDG I won't get started on you right now, but I will say this. In your post you said Varns was hit by stun clubs. Stun Clubs!!! How were you hit by the clubs, but still managed to fight off two seven-and-a-half foot barabels and keep running!!!
If anyone here is GMing, then you two are. I hope that either you or WW will take care of this, or perhaps DA would like to hear about this?
Are stun clubs clubs but when they hit do the same effect as a stun bolt? I am terribly sorry. In AOTC obi-Wan was going almost the same speed as that missile...But that was in space.
Impossible... Wasn't it impossible for a farm boy from tatooine piloting a fighter to blow up an entire death star?
I'd say Barabel is right. Fel could not out run all of those missles...however, I don't think that Barabel could get all of those missles off. I'd like to see you guys work this out by yourselves, without me having to say what needs to be done...please work it out in PM's...if you can not come to a compromise, then I'll compromise FOR you...which no one would like.
RDG, you've been pushing the envelope on reality for a while now. Barabels are tough creatures...though not indestructable. Your Charicter would not stand much of a chance against them in hand to hand combat. Your Varns is pretty much in his place for a while. By the way, the whole Tattooine example is very bad, and it does not even apply here.
Barabel, Fel is right on one thing...you should not post anothers damage...just fire your weapons, and let him deal with it. By the way, ships can dodge missles and torpedoes...even in modern times. Chaff and flares are modern tech...and jet fighters do use them to fake out missles and torpedoes. Also with the quickness of these warheads, it is possible to jinx them, letting them shoot past your ship, and turning around to catch you again...they're outrunnable...just not by speed. It takes savvy.
If Fel and Barabel can not compromise, I'll say this is what happend
Barabel fired off Missiles...which would be bad because he is following so close, he'll get quite the collateral damage. Fell fires of Chaff, which detonates the torpedoes early, knocking both ships into wreckless spins...Fell spins towards the atmoshpere, and has mere seconds to right himself before he hits the outer atmosphere and skips accrossed it, blowing up. Barabel has a sudden cabin pressure leak, and is forced to break off the attack to get into his environmental suit before his entire cabin is depressurized.
Well, alright so do we go from here and do stuff realistically or go back and do things realistically?
well, I'd say that you wouldn't have been able to get loose from the bonds...I'd just say that you'd stay put (Jase). I'm sure that the Barabels don't really want you around, and will sometime just dump you off naked on a planet somewhere...then you can go about your business...a little more wary this time, and not meet up with Barabels. Well, Dek Varns is pretty much screwed...he's got no where to go.
Barabel, one last thing. You throw your crewmates into battle like they're completely indespenseable...you'll have to be a little more careful from now on...lest I have a charicter cap.
Well then, I accept being captured. Though the Barabels do not need Jase or any of the pirates any more, so they better get dropped naked on some planet.
OOC: I accept WW compromise. I'll post when Barabel says he accepts the compromise. There's no need to call a mod when we can solve this ourselves.
The YVH walked through the hole he had just cut for himself. His sensors looked around looking for lifeforms. He detected some lifeforms with weapons at the ready. Hostiles. He turned towards them and opened fire with the blaster cannon on his right hand.
Outside, the other war droid pointed his left arm, armed with a mini missile launcher at a quad and fired two missiles.
Yeah, as soon as he sees it, he can agree or not...then we'll go from there
hey, I'm three posts away from 2000 posts!!!
So, that would mean you have 53 posts so far right?
I guess this is why that kid kicked my in the crotch when I was a mathamatician.
With or without gravy?
"Souds good. What are you offering for...compensation?" Belivas asked.
I'll accept the compromise.
RDG, i was reading over your ship's description, and it looks like you dont have any engines!!! You also said your ship was a frigate. Is it a frigate or a freighter?
IC: The Swordfish spiraled down, landing messily in th mud. The barabels and noghri chained the pirates together and dragged them back to the ship, carrying their one dead comrade behind. Once they learned the location of the pirate's ship, several aliens left to go take the peices from the pirate's ship that would be needed to fix their own ship.
Shad's came out of hyperspace near the Kashyyyk system, preparing to make another jump through the less-frequented trails of hyperspace.
He came up to a hypercomm relay and tapped into the network to place a call. Several seconds later, the signal reached its recipient, a shipping company on Muunlist: Hoto's Placep.
<G'day to yee, you'va reached the home branch o' Hoto's Placep, wot can ee help youd wid t'day?>
Shad turned on the reciever and said "I have been told that you are in the business of renting ships, is that correct? Well, anyway, I am looking to rent a transport for a short hauling duty between two near planets.
I would require something with the capacity to carry at least 12,000 metric tons. Something like a Gallofree transport or a Correlian Action III or IV would be preferable, if available. Also, if the crew is not provided or costs extra, then I would require something that could tow another ship of considerable size to its destination.
The haul is not a long distance, only 15,000 lightyears. I can pay a small deposit beforehand an the remainder once the job is completed. Is there anything you can do for me?"
The explosion sent the Divine Wind up into the atmosphere, and Derek had only a few seconds before he met annihilation.
He put all engine power into his repulsors to push him down and away from the outer atmosphere. He continued falling for a few seconds while he corrected himself. He put all repulsorlift power into his engines and left the atmosphere as fast as the damage enigines could carry him. With the Barabel freighter no where in sight, Derek put all remaining power from his shields into his engines.
He went with all haste to leave the planet's mass shadow. Once he was out of it he pulled the hyperspace lever to jump into hyperspace. He pulled the lever back a few minutes later. He entered coordinates for Nirauan and pulled the levers again and was gone.
"Unfortunately I only have a thousand credits with me," Rrwookro said. "But I'm sure the Wookie chiefs can provide something when were there. I'm ready to go now. Are you ready?"
"A thousand up front? Hmmmm..." Belivas wondered aloud. Well, Wookiee chiefs are going to have a war to finance. Could be profitable.
"Deal." he said to the wook.
An hour later, the cargo was loaded and the ship blasted off, reaching for the stars.
"Sir!" Sarge called. "I read a pair of incoming ships, escort class. The are making an intercept course, shields are raised and their weapons are charged."
"Damn! Those would be the trandoshans. Make a course for the hyperpoint, Sarge, but only at 1/2 speed."
The Deliverance pulled away at 25 KPH. The Escorts closed rapidly, and opened fire at long range. The shots sailed by harmlessly, but that would change soon. Within a few seconds, they struck the shields, and the entire ship shuddered. The Escorts turned to give the freighter a solid broadside when Belivas punched it. The engines roarded to life and the ship rocketed out of the gap, causing the ships to miss. They turned to follow, but Belivas soon exited their range and made the jump to lightspeed.
"Odd, those Trandoshans were quick," Rrwookro said from the passenger seat. "They probably had something to do with my ship being locked down. When we get to Kasyyyk system we better watch out. I heard the Trandoshans have a Lancer frigate."
The Missles jolted the ship as the sheilds around the Quad laser were almost gone. It began to fire on the YVH droid that was threatining it.
In the corridor outside the cargi bay the shoits began to ring against the hull, putting pockmarks in them. The men dived back behind cover but one got hit in the leg, taking him out of the fight. The men broke and ran, dragging their injured man with them, tring to get to the next door.
The specially designed armor of the YVH took the shots, but could only take so much. It launched a volley of missiles before the barrage from the quads blew it's left arm clean off. It moved sideways to evade the cannon. It then switched to it's blaster cannon and calibrated it to it's strongest setting. He moved closer and fired a shot nearly point blank at the quad.
Inside, the YVH followed the hostiles around a corner and saw them running for a door. They were a dragging a man. The droid ran at full speed to the men and grabbed one of them, it threw the man behind with full force. He then pointed to the men and fired a full powered shot.
Well, I see in our inventory we have a ship...the Mother of Peril It's a Gallofree, Mark II with some...um...modifications. This is the fastest ship that we loan out. It also is the most heavly armed...with the addition of three Turbo Lasers.
The normal price for a machine like this is 30,000 Hutts for the trip, with 15,000 Hutts for the crew...but I'm running a special this week...let's make it an even 40,000...and you've got a deal.
OOC: Nice work there bterrik bringing in the Trandoshans...I was going to do the same thing
The Trandoshan escorts came screaming in at the transport, lasers blasing...meanwhile, they shot a tight beam transmission back to their base at Rigis...sending word about an impending jump to Kashyyk.
40,000 would put him near the bottom of the barrel in terms of credits, but then again if this worked, fourty thousand would be the least of his concerns
"40,000 you say? You have yourself a deal. I will meet your ship at the Ralltiir system, coordinates 625,19,86, in about three or four standard days."
<So which is it, three or four?>
"If all goes well, then three. I will pay you for every day you are waiting if I am late. I also hope none of these "modifications" on the transport will affect your ship's performance?"
<Of course not>
"Good. The name is...um...Legius Karn. I am sending two thousand now to make sure you don't accidentally forget our arrangement. You will recieve the rest of the money when I know your ship and crew has arrived."
Shad hit the cutoff switch on the comm before the person on the other end could insist for more. He transferred the mone from one of his accounts, and then moved his ship back to the hyperspace lane. Shad plotted the next jump, pulled the levers, and his ship was back in hyperspace.
The damaged Divine Wind emerged out of hyperspace in the relatively quiet and remote system of Nirauan. Where the Chiss House Phalanx had an outpost, the Hand of Thrawn.
Without any enemy pursuing him, Derek put all power into his engines. Even at that he could only reach 70% speed.
He flew to the planet where the outpost was located and activated his comm. "Clawcraft 227 requesting to land," he said in his best Chiss.
"You're right. They were pretty quick. If they knew we were taking off, then they probably know where we are going, and out entrance egress...Sarge! Look at the charts of the Kashyyyk system. Can you drop us out of hyperspace a tenth of a second early? That should be enough to throw off any calculations they should make."
"It is always dangerous to drop out of lightspeed prematurely, however, other than the inherint risks, I see no other problems."
"Good, do it."
"Prepare for reversion!" Sarge called out.
Belivas flipped switches adn turned dials.
"Shield pods powered, quad and ion cannons ready."
The stars outside the viewport snapped back to pinpricks and a Lancer Frigate appeared dead ahead, eclipsing most of Kashyyyk. Their cannons thundered to life, smothering the spot Deliverance should have appeared in. Belivas sent his ship into a corkscrew as the frigate's gunners began to compensate. Behind him, we heard the quad cannon begin to talk as the wookiee poured fire into the frigate's two escorts, Cloakshape fighters. Belivas dove beneath the frigate's line of fire as green lit up his viewport. This ship was not using tubolasers-it was specificaly designed to hit fighters, which meant the freighter was in trouble. Belivas broadcast a distress call to the planet, but there was no response.
"Try that again, but send it on frequency 12 sub 3a with the identifier code 90.8." the wookiee said over the comm unit.
Belivas did as we was told, but again he got no response. He was about to confir with his gunner again when an ancient Corellian Corvette, escorted by two Assault Shuttles came out of hyperspace and mad a run on the Lancer.
While great against starfighters, Lancer frigates were not equiped with any capital-class weapons, and the Corvette and Assault Shuttles were. They opened fire with turbolasers at long range, huge blasts of pure red fire criss-crossing space to make the Lancer's shields glow red.
Belivas turned straight for the planet and floored his engines as the Lancer became more concerned with it's well being. A shout of triumph came as the wookiee exploded one of the cloakshape fighters.
Soon, overwhelmed by turbolaser fire, the Lancer frigate was forced to make the jump to lightspeed. The Assault Shuttles fell into escort positions with the transport, and the Corvette disappeared into lightspeed.
Minutes later, Belivas was standing outside his ship, inspecting the damage done by the Lancer, when the head of the Wookiee Council walked up with the one he had brought here.
"Sir," Belivas said with the proper respect and a wookiee almost twice his 1.4 meter hight towering over him.
