The prices are GREAT at the Drive In! I looked that site over and I love they kept their 50s theme...

Epic Duels? Is that the game with the miniature figures?

 

Love the drive ins (we usually drive out to the one in Leicester)!

Oh, it's DarthIC2, that SN got old for me a while ago and I've been waiting to change it. Plus Grindhouse was awesome.


I went to the 'Edgemere' Drive In today and witnessed a sad sad sight. That place still has the screen up but has been looted ten times over. People destroyed everything from the pay shack, engineering and to the film room. I snagged a stack of tickets and the adult price sign. Will be going back for the Pepsi price sign from the snack shop. It was just too cold.

It's sad to not only see a piece of local Americana be shutdown but to be vandalized like that. I wanted to snag something from there as a cool piece of Americana to have before it's all gone.

Sorry to see that it is so run down and looted.

Do you know when it was shut down?

I never went to that one.
I did go to one in Fairhaven, MA. that also sadly is no longer open.

There is a website that list open and now closed drive-ins in America when I get home I will try and post the website unless someone else wants to do so.

There is one in Saco, Maine that is supposedly the 2nd oldest running drive-in that I know I have pics of somewhere.

 

Where is/was the Edgemere one located? Too bad they didn't have any more of the poles with the car speakers on them. That would have been a cool piece of memorabilia. I know there is still a hopping one out on the Cape (Wellfleet?) It's right before you cross into P-Town.

 

The Edgemere is located in Shrewsbury on Route 20 a few miles down from Hebert's Candy Mansion.

 

I wanted one of the speaker polls but they have all been torn out. You can see the hundreds of holes. There are some rusted up remains of one that I saw but tetnis wasn't on my list.


I think the DI in the Cape has an original 1960s mini golf course as well.

 

That's the day I'm coming back from a biz trip to St Louis, so I doubt we'll make it, but we'll try.

I went back to the Edgemere today and grabbed this sign and cleaned it up some.

 

Nice sign man! Did you poke around the floor a bit to see if you could find any of the missing letters?

 

It was dark, I found a couple. I am going back today regardless of the weather. I am on a mission haha

I was not able to go back. Nicole's brother, whom was supposed to be my back up in case a homeless person was there, stood me up. I don't think it is wise to go back alone. I am not worried about the Police one bit but incase someone 'lives' there I don't want to be stuck solo.


I'll go and see what I can find in the next day or two. I can grab as much as I can incase anyone is interested in having something from there.

Depends if Nicole lets me bring the van to the meet, if she does I can bring it. I fixed some of the missing letters from some words to complete others so the sign looks better.

Hey everybody the meet is this Saturday, what would everyone like to have at the cookout?

We will maybe have a few items to discuss at the meet pertaining to private forums and other subjects with Imperial Syndicate.

So if you have any ideas you would like to bring up please let us know and post so we can think it over and get some feedback on Saturday.

 

I would say the usual for cookout food. Hamburgers, hot dogs, etc. I will talk to the ol' lady to see if she will make wings. She might if there is going to be enough people showing up.

So who is all coming on Sat?

 

I'm out. I have my first softball practice of the season this weekend. I really hope to make it to the Derby meet in May though.

 

I'll be there for sure.

One main thing we should set up now, what time to meet at Chris' place!


The Drive In starts/ opens at 630pm and will be showing Blades of Glory and Shooter.




Should we meet at 1230-1pm?

I have to bow out of this one as well. I have too much going on this Saturday.

Perhaps the June meet (as I can't make the May one either)?

 

Sorry to hear some of you won't be able to make it.

There are more meets coming up that hopefully more will be able to attend.

For those who are coming and bringing along some food, please post what you are going to bring.

I will be getting some hamburgers and dogs tomorrow night and let us know if you are bringing anyone with you so we have enough grub for everyone.

I will be attending the meet solo. The wife wants to get some things done around the house.

I will stop and pick up some chips and soda. No wings this time guys sorry.

 

Sorry Chris, Madison is really sick and if she doesn't get a certain amount of fluids in her by tomorrow night she will have to spend the night at UMass getting IV fluids. I have a cold too but that is no big deal I just can't be away while she is sick. This really sucks.
