You're one step closer to becoming viceroy of the trade federation.

After three trials in the Supreme Court, The Loyal Imperial is still viceroy of the Trade Federation. :p

I could never really get into GTA IV. I don't know, it was just so... Boring. Saint's Row The Third is far more engaging, IMO.

Don't forget the awesome hat. I imagine that is the greatest perk of being viceroy.

I'm going to play it, and I'm really looking forward to it. At this point, Bioware could release anything, and there would still be enough complaining to strangle Waru. So many people complain that it's stupid to have something like this when a massive war is going on, but the whole point of this DLC is fan service, to address the many, many complaints upon ME3's release that the ME2 characters didn't get enough time in the spotlight. Truly an excellent example of how you can't please everyone.

Glad to hear Citadel is good.

Yeah, like I said, I usually get very annoyed when I feel a game is trying to waste my time. I'm obviously not an MMO fan.

Side missions can be great in a game there the default activity is entertaining--like driving around Liberty City--but in KOTOR it was five minutes of hoofing it across the same terrain you just covered, loading screen, five more minutes of hoofing, five-minute dialogue tree, man sells you banana, then all the way back again, five-minute dialogue tree, man gives you armor upgrade in exchange for banana. Half the time I'd kill the guy and keep the ****ing banana out of sheer boredom.

You haven't seen pointless sidequests until you've played an MMO. Granted, fetch quests are the worst sidequests ever, but ones with their own stories and such are a lot of fun and add immersion I think.

In other news: I am now the proud owner of my first pet. Yay!

Side quests are the single thing that keep me from really getting into TOR. If I could just play the story missions, I probably would have beaten half the classes by now. As I've said before, that is just the nature of MMO's, and what the fans demand, but it doesn't mean I have to like it.

I do think side quests, when done right, can make a world feel more alive, though. I've only played the first two Assassin's Creed games, but I find I enjoy the side mission in AC2, particularly since there aren't an overwhelming amount of them. In the same vein, I've heard many say the side missions are the highlight of AC3, but I haven't played it myself yet. I love GTA IV, but I feel it's a good example of having great missions but redundant side missions. Red Dead Redemption isn't fantastic in the side quest department, but it's pretty good.

    What kind of pet?

The weird thing is that San Andreas was pretty fun - not as crazy as Saint's Row 3 but in the same spirit. Rockstar made it a point to emphasize that GTA IV would be more 'serious' as it was a selling point. A similar campaign for V has generated negative interest in that game for me.
I imagine, though, that Rockstar was probably elated when THQ imploded, less so when the Saint's Row franchise went to a healthy competitor...

Deep Silver, IIRC - the same guys who got Metro from THQ.

Edit: Confirmed it, and apparently rumor has it they're pushing for a release for SR4 one month before Rockstar gets out GTA V.... ouch!

y'know, I found SR2 to be mildly entertaining but I don't get the huge hype over it. Mostly I just liked the extensive wardrobe you had for your characters.

SR3 < GTA4, in my view. SR3 just starts out super cartoony and stays that way. It bored me.

When it comes to those open world crime games, I definitely prefer the realistic approach. Err, realistic to an extent, at least. If GTA IV was realistic there would be no way Niko could walk openly around the city.

GTA IV was good enough, but story-wise, San Andreas is still the one to beat for me.

I actually never played San Andreas. Well, of course I played it when it first came out, but in those days I was more interested in killing random people, getting stupid haircuts and getting fat than in actually playing it. I should probably revisit that game sometime.

I played the hell out of Vice City when I was a kid, though (can't be good for development). Even so, I still don't think I ever beat it. It was probably too long (though of course that didn't stop me from beating Snake Eater about three times).

Yeah, but escorts are problems in every genre. I can't count the number of times I got frustrated in TIE Fighter because some idiot capship didn't know how to defend itself. :p
