Are Clone Wars and Rebels canon?

I've always presumed that Lucasfilm regards anything they make themselves as canon.

However, on a personal level, you're free to pick and choose what is canon to you and what isn't.

As I understand it, and as it was hinted at, even more now, The Clone Wars and Rebels are up there with the films. T-canon is a way to say the films will always be more important and if a contradiction was to happen between the two, films win.

I am seeing different levels of canon being discussed, such as T and G.

What is the difference ?

 

G = from the movies or GL's word
T = from a tv show made in 2008 or later
C = most EU
S = pre-WEG EU
N = non-canon

 

Different tiers of make believe. Apparently G-canon is more real than T-canon and that is more real than C-canon. It means one can "officially" "override" the other.

 

Exactly!

 

Another description: A mind trick we're all playing on each other, a game were we pretend one make believe story is more "worthy" than the other.

GL has a tendency to confuse people.

 

Lucas said Clone Wars was. But Rebels is not his baby, so I think from now on everything on TV & will be canon. But maybe not the books & comic books because its too vast & all over the place. They would be very limited if they had to reference all that stuff before they do something on TV or in the future movies.

Books, and comics since the Story group are part of new canon, and books George Lucas had input.
Darth Plageuis, Darth Maul Lockdown, The current Dark Horse Runs except for Legacy.
Kenobi, the empire, and Rebellion Books. These stories, and storylines, were shared with the filmmakers, and TV people.
they all talk to each other.

Sometimes TCW and Rebels feel like a different universe from the Saga. For example, in the Saga the clones don't seem to think for themselves and the Stormtroopers seem to be clones while in TCW and Rebels the clones think for themselves and the Stormtroopers are volunteers.

 

I have my own system:

G-Canon = Good Canon

C-Canon = Crap Canon

That's all that's needed.

 

I only have an A (for awesome) Canon, which includes anything written by Matthew Stover as well as anything that includes an Ewok. Whether or not Rebels makes it is yet to be seen, of course, although if it's going for an OT vibe I would expect at least one Ewok to make it into the series.

 

Lucas only seemed to have real hands on input when he felt the movie era was over. That is until he decided to start it up again in 2012 before the sale.

 

If they want to please the bashers, there's no way Ewoks are appearing.

 

According to Steve Sansweet of Rancho Obi Wan, His creative juices started to rolll again, as he was consulting, and sharing story ideas for TCW.

 

Not sure how Ewoks could appear from a logical standpoint. Endor is a remote system.
