Are mexicans part latin?

    I dont get it.. all these mexicans now days are calling themselves latin, latino or latina

    but i thought latins were a totally different race and that mexicans are just indian/aztecs mixed with spanish

    KK EDIT: From dictionary.com:
    A member of a Latin people, especially a native or inhabitant of Latin America.
    Next time you have a simple question like this, try the fount of all knowledge first. Next time you start a thread in the Senate, try to make it have more of a basis for discussion.

    First, there never was an actual race called "Latin". Latin was the language spoken by the Romans and adopted by the Catholic church.

    The reason Mexico, Central and South America are referred to as "Latin America" is because Spanish is one of the languages that grew out of Latin. Linguistically, they are right to call themselves "Latino."
