I mean in ideals and such. Could the chiss be considered oriental? I dunno, and have no oppinion, just want to find an oriental version of something in Star Wars.

Y'know, not all SF alien species have to be pigeonholed to correspond with the ideology of a particular earth culture. There's a reason they're called "aliens."

I think that if you go by their "code of honor" than yes. The way they never attack until they are attacked.

thats one of the things that made me think of oriental when I thought of them. Plus I could compare thrawn to Admiral Ymamoto or how ever the guy was spelled. He started a world war with his attack, Thrawn got the galaxy inna big pickle later.

I am asian, so I do not feel offended in asking this question.

I'm just thinking that most things that have a back ground in the GFFA have a certain... relationship to Earth in them. Like the imperial hatred towards aliens has do have something to do with the racists thoughts of Either early America to hitler's regime itself. I just like comparing things to earth...

Orient Means East. So when people say Oriental they mean Eastern people. Like the on Long island, Orient Point, the eastern point.

In my college a building is called The Orient building, the building at the east.

Or when people are disORIENTed, Not knowing the east so there for being lost. Or ORIENTtation, gather of people to show them the way to the EAST.

My Oriental Proffesor tought me this, did I mention he is an Eglish Proffesor. He knows more of English then the Kids in my college.
It's a state College, all the kids from High skool go there, so it's another High Skool. However it's a good skool and it's only two years.

So if the Chiss are from the east of the Galaxy then yeah they are Oriental

There are no east or west in the galatic plane. But that's not to say Liu Bei isn't insidiously evil like Palpatine in PT-era. In fact, being insidious evil doesn't meant you don't have set backs. Even Darth Sidious lost his apprentice to a mere Jedi Padawan in PM. Liu Bei was ultimately crowned Emperor, like the Senator from Naboo, he also had a humble beginning.

So, in conclusion: Palpatine == Liu Bei.

    :)

Samurai Warriors/medievil knights - similar. both had a code of behaviour, just like the jedi! medievil knights were probably more religous i imagine, but wouldn't know for sure.

I always thought the Yuuzhan Vong were based on the mongols. Ghengis Khan, Tsavong Lah - sound like buddies to me. Also the conquest thing.

the medievil knight training system is also very similar to that of a jedi knight, squire/page = padawan and they were also taken at a young age to be trained.
