I'm really beginning to think that they are.

If you look at the '02 Saga basic line, seven female figures were made out of 53.

    • Luminara Unduli (Jedi Master)

    • Padmé Amidala (Arena Escape)

    • Padmé Amidala (Coruscant Attack)

    • Shaak Ti (Jedi Master)

    • Taun We (Kamino Cloner)

    • Tusken Raider Female (With Tusken Child)

    • Zam Wesell (Bounty Hunter)

And the '03 line doesn't look much better. I was very disappointed with the fact that no Princess Leia?s were on the '03 saga list.

Now I don't know the reasons for this. Going by the all the peg warmer Padmes at my local Wal-Mart I guess that they don't sell as well. But the Ep 1 Queen Amidalas sold well didn't they?

    *sigh*

I'd have to agree with you Ms. Starkiller [face_mischief] Although there are more male characters, They are missing many background women characters. Here's a point, Conceivably Padme & Anakin are the Heart of AOTC right? ;)
They've made Seven AOTC 4" Anakins already...
    Hangar Duel
    Outland Peasant disguise
    Deluxe w/ Geonosian
    Deluxe Flipping
    Tatooine Attack
Upcoming Speederbike & Wedding & Clone Wars versions

    How many 4" Padme's from AOTC ?[face_plain] 4
    Arena Battle
    Pilot
    Droid Factory Escape
    Upcoming Wedding version

They Definitely Need to make a New Leia soon, How about the outfit from the end of ESB :D It's been a while. And they're Waaay behind on Padme figures from both AOTC & TPM ;)

Although there are more male characters

    That is very true LGM.

I would get really mad when i go to Wal-Mart and see 6 different Jango Fetts when there are sooo many Queen Amidala and Padmes that still haven't been made.

Well, I'm sure the Sterotype that Action Figures are a boys thing dosent help. Allthough, I see just asmany Females shopping as Males in the action figure isles.

I for one, would like to see more Female Figures though, so many remain yet unmade. :)

They sure are! Especially female EU characters. (I want an Isard action figure!!!) If they can make a Kyle Katarn figure, why can't they make Jan Ors?

I agree! My female Jedi are far outnumbered by male Jedi! I want a Yaddle, a re-make of Adi Gallia, a Butlar Swan and a Stass Allie. :) The Jedi in the movie were a good mix of male and female, it would be nice if the action figures relected this also. I think it would be good for young boys buying the figures if they could see more strong female characters along with strong male characters.

And please Hasbro, a decent Aurra Sing would be nice! :(

Well NiktoJedi9 your female jedi won't be as outnumbered with the new Barriss Offee and Aayla Secura's that are coming out this year.

I agree that there is a lack of female character toys but that could be contributed to a lack of females in the movies.

#1 female on my list is Depa Billaba.

I agree that women are somewhat under-represented, but this was even more pronounced in the vintage line. There were only 5 Leia figures produced, and not one of them was the Slave Leia :( ;)

I would respectfully disagree with Amidala on the point of 2002 not being a good year for female figures. On the contrary, I would say it was the best year we've had yet. We had more female background and minor characters that year than ever before. This was without the presence of many Leia figures. To be honest, there aren't many more Leia figures that can be made. I can only think of the Medical Bay version from the end of ESB, which is almost identical to the ANH versions.

Amidala figures on the other hand, I hope we get lots more of someday. Hasbro really scored with its Princess Leia Collection in 1997. I hope we see a similar release with Amidala in various outfits from TPM and AOTC in the future.

Oh, and for the record, I voted for Rabe in the recent Hasbro poll ;)

Legolas_Greenleaf they have made a Lyn Me figure. She was in the Jabba's Dancers cinema scene 3 pack. Unless you want a resculpt of her she is available.

The problem is just that, women action figures do not sell very well. The "stereotype" that action figure is a male dominated market, well, its not a stereotype. But, yes, female figures are traditionally shelf warmers, so, until it makes hasbro a lot of money, don't expect them to be taking over the line any time soon.
