The best part of the George C Scott version is David Warner as Cratchit. My mind instantly dresses him in full Time Bandits makeup no matter what movie he's in, and it's why I continue to insist that Titanic is one of the best movies ever made.

The Alistair Sim version of "A Christmas Carol". Very moody, close to the original, and Sim is great. You could also try "Carol for Another Christmas", a TV adaptation written by Rod Serling.

If include TV episodes, try the episode of "The Jack Benny Program" where he goes Christmas shopping and drives Mel Blanc crazy. Or, if you want to be depressed, there's the original Christmas episode of "Dragnet", ".22 Rifle for Christmas".

And, of course, "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians". Go with the MST3K version, first, then try the Cinematic Titanic and Rifftrax versions. Followed by the MST3K follow-up, "Santa Claus".

You guys all give horrible suggestions. :p

    Frosty the Snowman
    Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer
    Shop Around the Corner
    It's A Wonderful Life
Miracle on 34th Street (the original, although the remake with Attenborough is okay, the original is better)
Elf (for all of Will Farrells antics, it's a cute movie)
Santa Claus is Coming to Town

I remember the first Married...with Children Christmas episode, where the shopping mall Santa, in a publicity stunt, skydives from a plane, his parachute fails to deploy, falls and dies in the Bundy's backyard, and Al is P.O'ed by all the rescue people in his yard ruining his Christmas, not giving a flip someone actually, you know, died.

I remember they put a "viewer discretion advised" disclaimer at the start of this episode, which was rare back then, and at 11 years old, I knew I was in for something good.

Christianity wasn't "founded" until the Crusades? I sort of thought that Christianity was well-entrenched in Europe by that point, and thus a convenient rhetorical justification for a the series of wars they would undertake.

The Thin Man is a good catch; forgot it was set at Christmas.

Secondly, I will not rest until I have found a way to watch Three Nuts for Cinderella.

Thirdly, if you're talking about Christianity in Europe, the Crusades and/or the death of Jesus Christ, take it to the Atheism thread. Can't even talk about Gremlins around here without the ******* Council of Nicea breaking out.

Another good choice would be "The Bishop's Wife", with Cary Grant, David Niven and Loretta Young. It's nice comedy with a good message and Grant being especially charming.

On the other hand, don't watch "Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny" without the Rifftrax commentary. You have been warned.

LOL! That sounds almost as bad as Santa Claus Conquerors the Martians. Yes that's actually a "film."
