I agree with Tyber, Star Wars is about wars, not peace. The comparisons between Bantam and Del Rey is ridiculous. On one end, you had amped up stuff and on the other, longer arcs.

vong333 : I agree with Tyber, Star Wars is about wars, not peace.

But too many galaxy-wide wars, one after the other, as we have in the Post-RotJ era is just ridiculous, and it's becoming way too repetitive. Smaller conflicts between sectors or planets or groups of people while the rest of the galaxy enjoys peace, would make more sense and would still give the characters battles to fight.

I would like to see the Jedi become successful at STOPPING or preventing major wars too. Let them mediate some disputes and resolve some issues before all-out war begins. Let's have some exploration of new worlds and new cultures. I'd like to see some adventure stories and mystery stories mixed in too. Every story doesn't have to involve blowing up something or having billions killed off.

Star Trek is probably going to be more your cup of tea if you're not too keen on the whole war aspect, the Dominion War aside the focus is more on exploration.

Don't get me wrong. I'm alright with wars, but there should be at least one series where there isn't a war going on. I don't mean that all the series should be that way. I can't think of SW without wars.

    -Death of Infinite Empire

    2.) Unification Wars (25000)

    -Birth of the Republic

    3.) First Great Schism (24500)

-Split between Light and Dark Jedi, Xendor and Legions of Lettow defeated

    4.) Tionese War (24000)

-Republic and Hutts vs the Union of Desevro & Tion (remnant of Xim the Despot's empire)

    5.) Duinuogwuin Contention (15500)

-Star Dragons attack Coruscant after a misunderstanding, later find peace and found University of Coruscant

    6.) Pius Dea crusades (12000-11000)

-Cult members of Pius Dea are elected Chancellor, launch crusades against rival aliens, creates rift between core worlds and outer rim

    7.) Hundred-Year Darkness (7000-6900)

-Some Jedi learn to bend life, and create and control monsters. Think they might even be able to end death and revive dead worlds. Want eternal life and galactic bliss, but Jedi Council agree the power could be abused with devastating consequences. Dark Jedi defeated and exiled, come to Korriban and Ziost, and enslave and interbreed with the Sith species.

    8.) Great Hyperspace War (5000-4990)

-Dark Lord Marka Ragnos dies. Republic explorers, Gav and Jori Daragon, find Korriban. Republic vs Sith Empire. Naga Sadow and Massassi warriors flee to Yavin IV. The Sith Empire is destroyed.

    9.) Great Sith War (4000)

-Fallen Jedi Freedon Nadd learns from and kills Naga Sadow. Exar Kun and Ulic Qel-Droma fall to dark side by Freedon Nadd's spirit, and declared Sith by Marka Ragnos's spirit. Go to Korriban and Yavin IV. The Sith ally with the Mandalorians. Sith, Krath, Mandalorians vs Republic & Jedi. Sith defeated. Ulic returns to light, but cut off from the Force. Exar Kun sacrifices the Massassi and his body to bind his spirit to the temples on Yavin IV.

    10.) Mandalorian Wars (3960)

-Mandalorians invade war-weary Republic. Revan and Malak defy Jedi council and go to war, but become as merciless as the enemy. Revan discovers the ancient, true Sith still exist beyond the known galaxy, and the existence of the Star Forge. Mandalorians defeated at Malachor V by Revan, and his superweapon. Revan and Malak disappear. Some think the Mandalorians were provoked by the True Sith.

    11.) Jedi Civil War (3959-3956)

-Revan and Malak become Sith Lords, found new Sith Empire. Revan almost successfully invades the Republic. The Jedi finally fight back, especially Bastila Shan. Revan captured, loses his memory, retrained in the ways of the Jedi. Malak takes control, but killed by redeemed Revan, and the Star Forge is destroyed. Revan leaves to prevent an attack by the true Sith. Remaining Sith Lords of Revan's Empire fall into civil war and nearly destroy themselves.

12.) Sith Civil War and Jedi Purge (3956-3951)

-Republic in ruins after the last war. Traya, Nihilus, and Sion take command of the Sith remnants. Traya is exiled. Sion assassinates Jedi, Nihilus feeds off of them. Jedi nearly become extinct, less than 100. A Jedi Exile, from Revan's forces in the Mandalorian Wars, returns. Traya helps him, and he eventually destroys all three Sith and stops Traya from destroying the Force. Remaining Sith Lords nearly destroy themselves again, but at least one survives.

13.) The Great Galactic War and Cold War (~3600)

-The True Sith re-emerge and take back half the galaxy from the Republic after a long and brutal war, ending with the sacking and Treaty of Coruscant, and then into an uneasy cold war as the Sith Emperors leaves government to his council.

14.) New Sith Wars (Light and Darkness War) (2000-1000)

-The New Sith Empire, founded by Darth Ruin, battle the Republic for a thousand years. Nearly unstoppable until Lord Hoth of the Jedi leads the Republic forces, then the Sith start to fight among themselves again. Lord Kaan defeats his enemies and reunites the Sith in the Brotherhood of Darkness, and the strongest all become called the Dark Lords of the Sith with

It's to be expected, though. The galaxy just experienced the collapse of its 25,000-year-old government and institutions/infrastructure, and was then invaded and massacred by a surprise extragalactic force even the Jedi didn't have power over.

It seems like we are done with majors wars after the Second Galactic Civil War, though. The lines have been drawn. If any new wars pop up, it will likely be some form of continuation of the Second Galactic Civil War. With the GA Space, Confederation worlds/sectors, Imperial Space, Hapan Space, Chiss Space, Mandalorian Space, Killik Space. Who else is left to really go to war, that hasn't already?

Plus, we have that vision of Allana ruling over a great period of peace.

So, if anything, we have about 20 years in-universe left to have any wars. Then they won't start up again until the Sith-Imperial War, it seems.

That's a good 60-80 years of Peace for the galaxy.

    1. While I agree Star Wars is more war focused than say Star Trek, there are plenty of Star Wars stories that are not about war at all or only use war as a backdrop, and many of them are quite good. For example, Nomad, or the Lando Calarisian adventures.

    2. It does make sense that their would be political instability after the collapse of the republic, that doesn't exactly alleviate the overwhelming feeling of "been there. done that" for galactic wars.

    3. Of course, we also had visions of the three Solo children leading the galaxy in an era of peace and prosperity....that didn't work out so much.
