Are you a patriot?

Certainly not.
I'm too cynical to be a patriot. Besides, patriots don't recognise their country's mistakes, and I do.

 

I wouldn't say that, I consider myself a patriot and if I think my country has made a mistake I'll be difficult to get to shut up about it.

Well, by todays definition, no. I'm not the kind of sheep that flood this country and this world, and I don't hate my country just because. I feel that this country was founded upon decent beliefs but I hate what it's become. Washington himself once described political parties as "the bane of mankind", and I certainly agree with that. Over the years, we've become so dependant upon gritty politics; our people have lost interest and justified it by "I don't like politics'. We've handed the rheins to the beauracrats on a silver platter, and now we're going nowhere. Am I a patriot to that? No. I'm only a patriot to myself and those that I love. I would fight for them and die for them. Nothing else.

I am a patriot and get very annoyed when people complain about how bad America is when they don't realize how lucky they really are to live here. I'm not one of those follow the government no matter what kind of patriots, and I do agree that America may have problems, but America is NOT the problem.
