FF:VIC Are you going to be watching the AFL Grand Final?

I think my stance on this is obvious...but what's yours?

 

I'll probably be watching it on a friend's TV. There is a slight chance that I'll miss it, but I doubt it as my friend is one of the biggest football tragics you could meet.

 

Supposedly my friend Jen and I are having aBBQ...an excuse for meat and yelling I think

Should be good, even if Geelong isn't playing

 

I work every saturday at the marina in hastings - if you need a boat launched I'm your man - so I'll probably be spending the afternoon sitting back, smoking a cigar and listening to Roy & HGs or Triple M's amusing coverage. I'll be able to do this because it'll be raining and no one likes to go out when it rains. I do work hard, seriously. Most of the time.

 

Sounds like my old job, working as the only person in a tiny bookshop in a tiny town that no-one ever goes through. I tells you, I was worked off my feet.

 

So glad I won't be at my job come Saturday.

I can't believe it's so close, I'm getting nervous. I mean...we all know the swans deserve to win, it's just that unfortunately doesn't mean they will.

Well, you should always have hope when it comes to AFL. I went for Fitzroy for the first 12 years of my life - not once did we even make the top eight, let alone the grand final!!!

And then they merged with Brisbane... a sad day, to be sure, but then we kinda won three premierships in a row. Uh... yeah.

 

i can't see the point in AFL and i think it is the most pointless thing in the world (apart from antarctica...)

Are you still banned? It's a pretty big no-no to register a new name and post while banned. If you've been unbanned it shouldn't matter though.

The Kangaroos never made the GF. so I really don't care anymore.


The other factor is that 2 players who BOTH should have been suspended for STUPID incidents have both been cleared to play.

Byron Pickett must be feeling SO hard done by........

 

The Roos never made the final? Mate, they WON the final! Dean Laidley used to 'coach' our primary school team, and when they won he brought the cup to school!

 

Feck it, it's good that barry hall is playing because the game would be most average without him. He is terrific to watch and its really him that makes me want to go for sydney. His days of being a rough bastard at St Kilda have eased up considerably. Good for him and good for football. Go Swans.

 

I agree. A bit of the 'biffo' in the fast becoming sanitised AFL is fine by me. I think that the tribunal did stuff up a little letting Bazza off (they could have said 'play the GF but expect to be on the bench for the first few weeks of next year'...well, I would have ) and yeah, the other bloke was milking it, but it DID incite a bit of discussion. Never a bad thing!

It even got Pope wanna-bes talking!

 

Well said, JE and Pulsar. I'm all for a bit of violence in the game I love. The game is becoming too technical anyways, with stoppages all the time. Just let them bloody well play! I, for one, was one in the minority who supported Brisbane's actions against Mr. Pansy St Kilda at the start of the year. Poor boy, broke into tears. Little darling, that one.

 

I'll be at the "greatest ever BBQ" as the organiser has spruiked it, with many a different meat, seafood included, and a big plasma tv with esky-fulls of beer.

'Carn the Swannies, just because my granddad went for the blood-stained angels back when they were south melbourne and I thoroughly dislike Ben Cousins who is an arseclown.

On the above side-discussion, the GodSquad regularly peruse the new members listings for names that don't conform to the Patrio-Fascist Chirstian worldview. That'd be how anything even remotely approaching silly would of been banned before posting.
