    Arena Hold'em Poker

    One of the most popular games in the world, Poker requires bravery, bravado and bluff. Whether you're an amateur or a pro, nearly everyone enjoys a hand or two. Now it's time to don a cap, take a seat, order a martini and play poker in The Arena

    Because of the nature of this board, the game will be played slightly differently to real life versions.

  2. Every player will receive 10 credits as their starting allowance. Players will not be given extra credits during the game.

  3. Every player is then 'dealt' two cards - these are sent by the 'dealer' to the players via PM.

  4. The first round of betting then takes place. During a round of betting (lasting no more than 24 hours), players declare whether they ar 'in' the hand, of if they fold. Players who fold during a round of betting are no longer in the hand, and do not retrieve any credits played in previous betting rounds. Players who declare that they are 'in' have the appropriate amount of credits deducted from their tally (will start at 1) and added to the pot. There is no turn order - post in or fold at any stage during the 24 hours, although you cannot change your position after you have posted.

  5. The flop (three cards) is then played by the dealer on the 'table' - posted in the thread. Another round of betting takes place.

  6. This is then followed by the Turn (1 card), another round of betting, the River (Final Card) and a final round of betting. Those who are still in the game at this stage will 'reveal' their cards (or the dealer will, depending on time constraints), and the person with the best possible hand of 5 cards from their 2 cards and the 5 'community' cards will be declared the winner of the hand and gain all the credits played during that round.

  7. If, at any stage during a round, a player runs out of credits (eg. they use their last credit during the flop round), the round is declared all in. No more bets will be taken after that round and the last cards (in this case, the turn and the river) will be revealed, followed by the players still in the games cards.

  8. In the unlikely event that all players fold before a hand is over, the pot will be carried over to the next hand

  9. As the game progresses, the amount of credits required to stay in a round will be increased at the discretion of the dealer.

  10. Rounds will follow in this manner until one person is left with all the credits and is declared the winner. The winner will receive a weeks colours.

    Expect your cards soon.

    Something I forgot to mention in the rules - if you do not declare whether you're are in or if you fold in any round of betting, you will be considered to have folded, but 1 (or more when the bet is raised) credit will be deducted from your total and put into the pot.

    Hand Rankings

    (highest to lowest)

    Straight Flush

    Five cards in sequence, all in the same suit. An ace can be used at either end of the scale (eg. Ace,King,Queen,Jack,10 or 5,4,3,2,Ace). If two or more players have achieved a straight flush, the hand with the high card wins)

    eg. Jack High Straight Flush

    [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/sj.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/s10.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/s9.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/s8.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/s7.gif]

    Four of a Kind

    Four cards of the same number/rank, as well as an unmatched card. If two or more players achieve a four of a kind, the highest ranked quad wins. If two or more quads are the same, the higher unmatched card determines the winner.

    eg. Four Fives, Ace Kicker

    [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/s5.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/h5.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/d5.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/c5.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/d1.gif]

    Full House

    One triple and one pair in a hand. Full houses are ranked first by the triple and then by the pair.

    eg. 10's over Queens

    [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/c10.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/d10.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/s10.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/sq.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/hq.gif]

    Flush

    A hand where all the cards are of the same suit. Hands are ranked by the highest card in the Flush.

    eg. 9 high flush

    [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/s9.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/s7.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/s5.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/s4.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/s2.gif]

    Straight

    A hand with all five cards in sequence. Hands are ranked by the highest card down

    eg. Queen high straight

    [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/hq.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/sj.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/s10.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/h9.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/s8.gif]

    Three of a Kind

    Three cards of the same rank, plus two other cards. Hands are ranked by the highest triple, and then the highest kicker

    eg. Three 8's, Ace kicker

    [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/s8.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/h8.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/d8.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/h1.gif] [image=http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t72/Kyptastic/d7.gif]
