MS Update Around the Boards - March 14, 2007

Census & Games has started its new tournament, and this time it's for everybody's Favourite Historical Figure! We've already had an amazing turnout, so don't miss the chance to participate yourself!


Costuming and Props is announcing an open call on banners. Check out the Banner Discussion thread in Comms for more details.


The Bond Review Off in Amphitheater is underway and is really interesting.


The Senate "Top 20 People" is down to Number 2!


Also in The Arena: The Arena's First Tournament just started, see what's up! There's still an open call for special banners.


The first Celebration Europe guests have been announced. Keep an eye on the Celebration Europe board for news as we get it.

The SFF:Books and Comics writing contest is in the first week of judging, but there's still plenty of time to join in.

 

I'd like to add that the Arena has hit over 10,000 posts as of a few days a go.

I know that doesn't seem like much, but I think it's a pretty good showing considering how small a percentage of sports fans there are, that post at TFN. Not to mention we managed to keep the established threads in the JCC going strong as ever, thus not ruining the sports talk for users that are strictly JCCers.

A big pat on the back for our moderation staff, the people involved in finally getting a forum for us established, everyone involved in the request thread that managed to keep the thread on topic, free of flames, and finally got our Arena accepted by the MS staff.

Most of all, thanks to everyone that have not only posted in the forum, but have kept it going for the first few months of our "hazing" period.

Hopefully we will have continual and thriving success, down the road, in the Arena.

 

I'd hate to ruin your post but the NHL thread has been pretty much abandoned since The Arena opened.

 

So keep it going,

 

I'm thrilled for the Arena and quite proud as well. Keep going and enjoying it.

 

That may actually be just because an interest in hockey is declining across the board (no pun intended).

 

Huh? There was an original official thread? I was under the assumption Yodave's was the standard. If that's the case, can't we use the old one and ditch the inflammatory one?

the football thread in the JCC is still going strong, despite some huge summer departures over the last few seasons.

Yet Roper still hasn't gotten a game at Stamford Bridge.

Seriously though, I suspect the reason The Beautiful Game thread is still alive and kicking is simply that football isn't a popular on the JC as other sports, and so staying put is what the regulars (including me, as it turns out) have been most comfortable with. The American sports threads are doing really well in The Arena though.

 

You wish it was that simple. I'm principially opposed to the very idea! Rabble Rabble!

 

Hey, there are plenty of Aussies & Kiwis partipating too.
They pick up the slack when Americans are unavailable.
