I wanted to go see AoTC tomorrow night. I had a look in this morning's paper, and it appears that the film is ending, or being relegated to daytime slots everywhere. I realise it has been almost two months, but in my heart I still expect it to be the most popular movie ...

How much longer will it be on in the cinema? I've only seen it four times. Arrrrgh!

I seem to rememver reading that for a theater to get reels for AOTC they had to guarantee 8 weeks of showings, that may have somthing to do with it.

You have to question what kind of a sap would pay money for a crappy bootleg of a film which is still on at the cinema, and will be released officially on DVD by November, no doubt with extra footage etc.

You're just throwing away your money ......

Mum just bought a dvd player from Farmers *~happy~ :)*, so now I can finally watch TPM with ad breaks. :D

Look forward to the AOTC one. Has it been decided that the dvd will be out this november? Seems awfully fast compared to TPM's dvd release.

I think it has been confimred that AotC DVD will be here for Christmas, but I'm not sure a date has been officially released yet. There's a number of reasons why AotC can arrive on DVD faster than TPM did, including the fact that AotC was filmed in digital format and was released (almost) worldwide on the same day. :)

After that nasty experience I've given up downloading movies, its much less hassle to actually wait for them to come out and Buy them!! Not to mention the fact that they take up an enormous amount of hard disk space.

    hehehe

It does seem odd that AOTC is starting to stop showing, seeing as LOTR was going (in Auckland) for 8 MONTHS!

    mauauauahahahahahahahahahahhaa

The ONLY reason LotR is/was still playing is because it a "God Almighty New Zealand movie, all bow down and praise it" - the fact that it's boring rubbish makes no difference. :p

No doubt other New Zealand movies also play long past their sell-by-date too. :(

Not quite sure I agree with Buzz's assessment of LOTR as "boring rubbish" but he's right ... I think 90% of new Zealand went and saw that film, just to get some "Niu Zillund kultcha" or something. Certainly, people who weren't interested in fantasy saw it just 'cause it was an NZ film, and Peter Jackson was everywhere in the media.

Plus, a lot of people didn't like TPM, and just *assume* AOTC is crap as a result of that preconception.

Gonna go see AOTC on Saturday .... and then, FILM FESTIVAL!!!!! woo-hoo. I just got the 25 tickets I ordered in the mail this morning. I am going to a film *every day* for seven days. (Not all 25 tickets were mine, I should add .... some were for friends and my wife ....)
