    Hello all,
I've been lurking around on this forum for a while and now I wanted to post my own stuff.

This picture is about the battle of Yavin 4 described in the novel "Darksaber". The MonCal-Cruiser Galactic Voyager fights together with corellian Gunboats against several Victory-class Star Dastroyers and the SSD Knight Hammer (which is not on my picture...). It's just a pencil scetch missing the TIEs, X-Wings and Laserbolts and far away from the picture I had in my mind.

Your rendering of the ships is beautiful, Dark_Guardian--very nice perspective and proportion on them all! I especially like the Mon Cal cruiser--it's a very complex design, and you captured it well! The only suggestion I would make would be to add some dramatic shading on the vessels (as would be present near a star)--I think that would "flesh them out" a bit more. ;) Beautiful!

Not much else I can say that FalconFan didn't already cover. Overall, excellent job! Please post more of your drawings when you have time. :)

    Thanks for all the comments.

FalconFan: The shadows are a good idea. I've tried to put some color and shadowing in the pic when I had scanned it, but it didn't worked very well. I'm not so good with these painting-programs. When I've time, I'll make some shadow in "reality".

Yeah, the Cruiser was difficult, because there is only official picture showing the Galactic Voyager:
    [image=http://www.theforce.net/swtc/Pix/books/weg/mcgalvoyager.jpg]
The picture shows the underside of the ship, but I drawed it from above, so I had to use my imagination.

HS29: I'm currently working on another picture, showing a republic fleet seen in Jedi Trial. I hape I can finish it soon, but there is still the real life...

    Here is a new picture:
Anakin's assault fleet from Jedi Trial. While Jedi-General Halcyon fights against the Separatist's main fleet, Anakin tries to land on the planet with 10000 clonetroopers. His flagship is the Neelian, a Corellian Corvette.

Wow, your very good at drawing the ships and have them movie acurate in their detail. I also like how you keep the picture very simple.

When ever I draw a picture I'll reach a stage where I can stop and it will look good, like your drawing but sometimes I try to shade in some of the areas and I end up ruining the drawing.

I would say just to vary your values and apply some shading and you have it made. The accuracy of the ships is amazing. I think they might also benefit from some color. ;)

I spent some time on my computer and did some work on "Arrival at Praestylin". Here is the result:
A new planet, a starfield and a sun. The ships are still uncolored, but I'm quite busy at the moment. Maybe later...
    Meanwhile: Enjoy.

Ooo, very nice. That's really starting to come together, Dark_Guardian. Although, now that I look at it, you may not have to color the ships. In fact, that may be too much. Just adding shading may be enough to make it look finished.

Ah, I see you made some of the ships darker than others. Nice touch and interesting way to solve the problem, but I think it still needs to have some shading within the contours as well. That would really give the ships a nice sense of depth. :)

The Star Destroyer is really cool! How did you do that?

That's a really interesting design. I like the appearance of the schematics. And I really admire your detail in all of your vessels. Excellent work! :)

Well, the Star Destroyer was not that difficult. I used the shematics from the EGVV, I just had to replace the text and change the colors.

Some lightsabers I had done recently.
At the moment I'm quite busy... I finished school and moved to university...
Because I have no scanner available at the moment, don't expect any drawings, just some computer-art...

    So, the lightsabers:
    [image=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v216/Dark_Guardian/3LS1.jpg]

the first one is Shaak Ti's second lightsaber (CWC II)
the second one is Sylvar's lightsaber (TOTJ: Redemption)
the third one is Ki-Adi-Mundi's second lightsaber (CWC I/II)

    Enjoy!

Here's a new one. Nothing special, just some Images from the internet put together...
I've plans to make a picture for every single SSD, so there may be new stuff soon...

Dark_Guardian, good job! I can see and feel the progress in your work thus far. There's a marked difference between your first b/w linear piece and your latest full color rendition. Progress has been good to you! :D

My favourite piece for some reason, is the one with the lightsabers ( no surprise there). I especially like the middle one, since it's the most elaborate of the three. I would definately like to see what other lightsaber designs you come up with.

Your composition in 'Imperial-Class Datafile' is really succesful. Every element is well balanced and represented. The eye gravitates equally towards each element in the drawing. An exellent job, imho.

Keep up the progress and the good work,( and bring on them lightsaber designs! hehehe).

I love it when people take ships from movies and the like and give them names. It adds a whole new level of character to something that would otherwise just be a glorified prop. Nice touch adding the pseudo-schematics to it, as well.

Very nice compositions, Dark_Guardian--I especially like the inclusion of the schematics on "Razor's Kiss," and the apparent trickle of blood (?) from the blade at the right, pooling below the ship...eerie, and a good representation of what these superweapons were intended to do... I like these, with the overlay of images, but no loss of clarity in the composition--good job!

    Thanks for all the comments.

    greyjedi125:
I took the lightsber designs from the comics. I've tried to do some designs of my own, but none did satisfy me much. Maybe I'll post other adaption later.

    FalconFan, wicktone:
When I compose the images for the SSD, I try to stay close to the history of the ship. The Razor's Kiss had a short-lifed destiny. It was stolen by Zsinj from Kuat while it was still under construction and destroyed by a NR-Fleet shortly afterwards.
Thats why I put the schematics in the picture, as well as the construction yards and the planet Kuat in the upper left: They stand for the contruction of the ship, which was the longest part of its life.
I included the razor and the blood, because when I think of a razor's kiss, I think it's verx bloody.
The explosions on the SSD stand also for its short life.

Ah, and here is another picture:

The fall of the Knight Hammer
    (Darksaber)
After the destruction of the ship's engine system, the mighty star destroyer crashes into Yavin's atmosphere.

Oh, beautiful D_G!! I love this interpretation, with the cataclysmic passage of such a huge vessel through atmosphere, generating horrific discharges of lightning and causing the sky to "boil..." Stunning! I especially like the flares of superheated debris streaming from the hull--very realistic-looking, and on that note, just one suggestion: the nose of the vessel would actually be much in the same condition, due to the heat of re-entry: aglow with molten and disintegrating materials and streaming such. I think that would add to the realism of the image, but in truth it's pretty dramatic and awesome just as it is now. Fantastic rendering of a very dramatic written scene! Well done!

That's a really striking image. Very bold use of the colour red, but it works. It's unusual for me to find much feeling in a spaceship pic, but this one is kind of sinister and almost disturbing. Well done.
