    OK Everyone!
I checked out the sequin color for the Meadow Dress today...they are NOT WHITE! They are more of a goldish tone and also have a pearlized finish! (but they are a little lighter than the mustard of the skirt)...when the light doesn't catch on them they blend more with the skirt color. I don't think they were dyed with the skirt...don't you think the embroidery would also have been dyed too...because I think they were put on with the embroidery. Hope that helps!!!

    Hi Paul,
I looked at the Black Travel gown again today and I need to get back to you about the construction! It came to us already dressed on the mannequin...and yes it was in the fashion show...but I didn't get a chance to examine or dress it there either! I'll tell you more when I can!

I didn't dress any of the Jedi...so I don't know the exact specifics of their costumes...but I plan to take notes when we take the exhibition down!

Thanks Biba-Fett, that would be great!
I also forgot to ask what the shape of the cape is like laid flat and any details about the construction of the hat would be greatly appreciated. I haven't started on the mockup of my cape yet so I could wait until the exhibit is over to find out about them.

    Thanks again!

Biba-Fett the notes on the costumes are great so far. Thanks for all the info.
I have a few questions actually - Regarding Padme's Funeral Dress.

    1. Is there a brooch on the top of the dress (neckline)? I looks like there was one everytime I saw it in the theaters, but it was hard to tell.

    2. About how many yards would you say went into the coat of the funeral dress? I know its a devore velvet that was painted to resemble waves, but I was curious as to how full it was.

    3. Are there sleeves to the inner dress?

    4. How many layers to the inner dress? What kinds of fabrics?

    5. Can you describe the shoes a little?

Thanks in advance :D This is great to learn that details we had easily spent hours going over (picnic dress sequins LOL) and debating are either dead on, close, or wrong all together lol.

Just to add my 2 cents to things from what I've seen in exhibit pics.

    1) I think Biba-Fett is right about a nude layer under the lavender/pearl nightgown. In the pic I posted of the brooch yesterday, you can see something nude colored in the gaps the faggoting stitch causes - but the mannequin is white. Take a look here:
    http://www.padawansguide.com/fidm/shawan1_med.jpg

    2) I can't wait to see the Picnic costume myself. I used the sequins Ferd posted about. I was happy with them, but I used them less because I believed that they were the correct color and more because they were 4 petaled and actual sequins and I couldn't find anything else like them unless I wanted to punch out a million butterflies out of Shimmer Sheetz and modify them into flowers like Dawn did! (And they looked amazing on her costume too!). Anyway, I'll have my picnic gown there for fan day, so we can compare my beigeish sequins on the real one and see. Thanks for checking again, Biba-Fett!

    3) Padme's end dress shoes - Shawan sent me a shot of them - it's not 100% in focus because of the low-light, but you can still see them. They are sequined!
    http://www.padawansguide.com/fidm/shawan3.jpg

I too would love to know more about this gown - if the undergown has short sleeves or is sleeveless, how the strands of sequins work with the cape, what kinds of fabrics, if there is a Naboo symbol over the stomach of it (as I've heard rumor of) - any other details. We know so little about it! And if someone has a better shot of the shoes, that'd be great too!

Thanks again for answering our questions, Biba-Fett! The wedding dress info was really interesting as well!

Thanks for double checking the sequin flower color :) It's cool the way the lights really reflect off the sequins, but it sure plays tricks on the eyes huh?

Once the exhibit closes down, any information about the Padme Dark Purple Senator gown in the back row would still be greatly appreciated (underpinnings used, material used to make the headdress, types of threads used to embroider the tabard, fabric used on the skirt and bodice - etc).

Hope I didn't drive everyone crazy!

    Bumpin this one.

Let me see what I can come up with imagewise.

Biba-Fett will probably be on in the next day or so. Despite being just two floors
from the exhibit, the mundane realities of her job have to be met.

But I'm sure she'll answer as best as she can.

Here's a question for when Biba-Fett has time - I would love to see a pic of the front of the Motee hanadmaiden gown - the purple velvet one with the beaded flower and streamers in the back:

    http://www.padawansguide.com/handmaiden/handmaiden_fidm1.jpg

We have only blurry pics of the front!

Maggie, the Motee gown is in the back row and faces backward. The book does have a clear shot of the front of this gown though. (Yeah!) IMHO, the photos we take at the exhibit are just a teaser for what the book has to offer. I know, many of you already have it preordered and are waiting for Amazon to deliver. The book is packed with more detailed shots of many of the costumes.

    Thanks.:-D

I managed over the years to dig up pictures of the gown, but none in natural lighting.

Primrodo, so someone has images of Anikan's saber?

I want to thank those who got awesome photos and details. I have just a little question. On Captain Panaka's blue Naboo military coat, is there a waist seam? There isn't a good pic in the book at all of the royal security officers. Thanks!

    HI Kristin,
I have to do more research for you about the funeral dress. I believe it was pretty simple in construction...it was all about the fabric! I honestly don't think there is a brooch at the neckline..I'll check. I can't remember if there's sleeves to the underdress. Trisha used antique geletin sequins that were hand dyed to match the cloak. The collar of the cloak is sequined and on either side of the collar she has 3 very long "streamers" of sequins that lay over Padme's body...in the book you can see one of them over her hand left hand. Shoes are slippers that are beaded at top...(with rubber soles). I'll see what I can find out when we undress it! ;) Biba-Fett

    Hi,
Do you have the book yet? Page 48 has a better picture of Queen Amidala's Kimono dress...you can see her shoe too! The colors in the book of this costume seem a little darker than in person. For example the under skirt/and top is out of shot silk chiffon in rose/lavender...it changes in the lighting...the book looks darker. Next layer is the over-dress in a crinkled silk...well it's like 2 fabrics in one..the silk looks like it's lifting off the backing (does that make sense?)...the fabric has body and is not stiff...it's custom made for the costume. I also can tell you that Trisha said that she had a woman stitch all the pearls on by a sewing machine! I would die...! The Obi is vintage fabric and is out of metallic thread. The obi is snapped into place at back. I believe the over Kimono is out of a taffeta and is lavender. The beading on her headpiece is out of a c.1915 belt with a v shape (that comes to point at forehead) and drops of glass beads. It's beautiful in person! The Fan is out of horsehair and has a frame built into it (behind silver center piece). Does this help at all?

OK Everyone...the question that everyone wants to know..............
I looked at the under skirt of the Meadow Dress today!!!
I was very suprised at what I found...It is out of chiffon (and is sheer!)and it's very similar to the fabric used in the rainbow lake dress (same colors!) that unfortunatly we don't have in the exhibition (I was fortunate to see it at the fashion show!). It's all different colors...(red included!) It's lightly dyed so it doesn't show through. I'll have to try to come in early some day...one weekend soon and get a shot of it for you all. You'll see and be suprised too!!!
    Have a great day.....Biba-Fett

Biba-Fett - Thanks so much for the info on the dress :D Leave it to Trisha to use antique sequins and not ordinary sequins ;) lol. I'll be fine with the ones I have for now. This dress will one of my bigger projects, as I want to try to create the fabric for the cloak so it has the same look (devore and handpainted). Thanks again :D

Hi Biba, thanks for all your awesome help!

Are there any details on fabric/ Construction of Dorme's goodbye gown that you could give us? Is the underdress long sleeved?
How does the jacket fasten in the front?
What colour is the shot silk lining blue/yellow?
What shoes did she wear with it?
What colours do you think the underdress and overdress are?
Sometimes they look two toned blue
    Sometimes purple and grey

    Thanks!
