that really is too bad. I used to live in Brackley, Northamptonshire, and it was the nicest town! I miss it...

 

I guess it varies from place to place, here the local government hand out licences to bars and clubs like it's going out of fashion and it's killing the town... that and they shut the only cinema, the bowling alley is WAY out of town and unless you like countryside there's not much else to do.

 

I'm hoping that the introduction of 24 hour licenses will eventually lead to a change in culture so that we are more like the French (don't kill me for saying we should be like the French s_f) and have a much more relaxed drinking culture.

Problem at the moment is that as a society we have got used to the 11pm last call and as such try to drink as much as possible before that moment. Whilst I lived in Paris, it was much more relaxed. We would be in a cafe until the sun came up, but we would have drunk less than was crammed in in one night back here in the UK, simply because it was so much more laid back.

LOL! I love Scots. I have some great friends from Glasgow, and I love that accent.

Not sure of all my ancestry, I've never really looked into it. Perhaps that's something I might try at somepoint.

 

What misconception did you have about Americans that you found out was wrong?

 

That's a hard one for me because I don't usually have any preconceptions about people I just take them as I find them but I guess I did used to think you guys were maybe like the touristy type Americans we sometimes get over here declaring how everything is so much bigger in the US and how quaint everything is here.

I also thought the US was more liberated than the UK though until I found out that porn and swearing was frowned upon on TV over there and that you have to sign up to special area to view 'adult' items on e-bay, that suprised me alot, I thought us Brits were prudish. Not that I'm saying you're all prudish.

I don't know, I'm kind of a strange person in the way I think about things I look at life through my own unique view I guess.

I think alot of English people think you ALL have guns and that you live on junk food, maybe Jarien can give you a clearer answer here

There's a rather old and outdated saying when people think that you're trying to have them on, my grandad used to say "Do you think I came over on a banana-boat yesterday?" meaning do you think I'm easily confused / kidded and it kind of ended up as "do I smell of bananas to you?". They also say "Do you think I came down with the last shower of rain?"

Very rarely. I try to eat right. Eating healthy doesn't mean you have to eat bland.

 

I have no guns... well I have a replica strippable Beretta but I don't and can't eat junk food because it makes me very very sick if I eat anything with a high fat or sugar content plus I'm Vegetarian bordering on Vegan and quite fussy / paranoid about what is in food I haven't cooked myself
