i thought the last one was supposed to serve as a closure to the series for a while at least

 

nope not at all, they've talked about releasing new ones about ever year or two. The one that was supposed to close the series was the one before 3 and mostly they were closing the Altair and Enzio stories and moving on to new characters, plus Desmond isn't in this one.

They probably will, they're definitely going to milk every historical event as the years go by. Doubt we'll see Assassin's Creed end anytime soon, which makes me happy haha
