I remember I used to read my bro's and friends annuals when I was younger. They were so cool!

Yeah, I've read them since I was 5, or my parents read them for me.

Anyway, I will try to make a little dictionary with the most usual characters names in different languages, but it will probably take a day or two.

I had never realised the names had to be translated [face_blush]

Ah, Astérix... it reminds so many things...
a few days ago, Lordban and I watched the cartoon 'Astérix chez Cléopâtre' (sorry I don't know the English translation =) and we realized we have even more fun now watching it than we had as children :p

well, the new one sucks. the older ones had timeless humor in it.. and now? it´s a very weak story too and if I remember correctly, than obélix and astérix aren´t born on the same day, there was a birthday party for obélix once where his present was a legion of the roman army......
    I want goscinny back *sniff*

I think most people would want Goscinny back. :_|

But there has never been stated that Obelix and Asterix are born on the same day, not even in the album that is about why Obelix fell down in the magic potion.

I loved the film Asterix and Cleopatra, I specially remember when they were doing the poisoned cake. :D

Here are the first names in Swedish-German-French. I don't know them in English though.

    Mirakulix-Miraculix-Panoramix
    Troubadix-Troubadix-Assurancetourix
    Majestix-Majestix-Abraracourcix

I think without Goscinny it isn't teh same, but Uderzo does his best to let the series live on.

Yeah, but true, it's weak. All the recent albums (the one with Caesar and Cleopatra's son, or the one with Rahazade) didn't make me laugh like, say, the one in England...

I'm amazed to witness the european success of Asterix. So many things are France related... like the caricature of french actors Bernard Blier and Jean Gabin in Asterix's Odyssey...

It shows how good Asterix is, me for example haven't got a clue about the French references and still I love it.

    Asterix is great.
    We should worship him.
Bow down before our mighty, great, (short), Gaul warrior !
    Abandon your idols !
Forget everything else you love !

Hmm... I'm actually asking people to forget STAR WARS, which means :

    1) It's true that I love Asterix (especially the albums drawn when Goscinny was still alive)

    2) It's true that I love Obelix (and I love boars of course !)

    3) It's true that I should take a little sleep and be not that fanatic.

    Star Wars is great !
    We should worship it !
    Bow down... (blah blah blah)

I love Asterix and I agree that the older stories are better. I got to love Obelix' little dog (Idefix in Swedish).

Have anyone heard any news of the album that was released yesterday, hey it was even on the cultural news here in Sweden.

And if you love Idefix you really have to go to the official site, he's appearing everywhere more cute than ever. [face_love]

I had a look at the new album today. We are introduced to Asterix's and Obelix's parents... there's the return of Falbala (maybe due to the fact that she was in the movie, and played by Laetitia Casta...).

Can't say I'll buy it. But I'll certainly read it in a library when I have a sec.

Oh, Idéfix sniffing the floor is so cute [face_love]

Astérix the legionary... what a memory *sigh*
I read it at the school library by the time I was ten, then ran to a shop and bought it to finish it without the other kids screaming everywhere =) it was really funny !

The one in England IS terrific, on New Year's eve it was on TV and even if I had already seen it a dozen times or so I was still laughing more than is reasonable for an average adult.

Asterix's 'Tour de Gaule' is also excellent, and to all Idefix fans I remind you that it's in this album Idefix shows up for the first time.

I think my favourite Idefix moment is in the album where Asterix and Obelix travel around Arvernia, looking for Vercingetorix shield. Idefix is so cute when Asterix and Obelix are angry with each other.

My favorite Idefix moment is when he saves Asterix' bottle with that drink that you all know what it does :).

I don't know if I have a specific favorite story. One that comes to mind is Asterix going to Corsica.
