    I've finished LOTR!

    What a chore.

The end wasn't what I expected. Glad I finally finished though. I really enjoyed it. I doubt if I'll read it again...just have fun remembering about it :)

Nope, mines are in a giftbox so they'll be staying on my bookshelf as a trophy so I can look at them and finally say...I've read them.

The ending took me by surprise too, actually... the scouring of the Shire was a bit lame, I thought... just my humblest..

By the end of the second book, I'd started to really not like Frodo.

Sam was the hero in my opinion. He did all the hard work.

it's always the behind the scenes people who do most of the work

Yup... but that was the point with Frodo, I guess... at first he's fine.. bit weak, it seems, but a fairly good chap... but by half way through Two Towers, the ring is starting to get to him... turning him, like...

    Yeah, I suppose.

    *SPOILER*

I liked at the end though when Frodo started withdrawing into himself and the hobbits didnt really talk about his great feats as much as Pippin and Merry and Sam.

Sam was always more strong willed than Frodo - I hope that comes across in the movies.

Y'know, despite all my protestations, I think I'll miss it.

I don't think it was the best book ever written like some people do but it definitely is a good story.

What to read now, though, thats the thing. I have so many books I got over the Christmas period and after that I don't know where to start.

Although...I might go for the Horror/pervy book by James Herbert called Once.

    Any of yous read it?

I think it will. Galadriel points out the fact that Frodo will need Sam and when they get into Mordor, Sam basically becomes the bearer... Jackson will make sure that comes through

Ogli, read them before you see the move.

Sam, yeah, I hope Jackson does bring that out in the movie because thats vital I think.

Rach, I'll let you know ;)

I can't Ben. My hands are too small to hold it.

I've seen the TV Movie though and I KNOW its not as good...but the book is just too thick.

Nah...its gonna be "Once". But I have a new Hutson to read; and "Angel" book Jon got me for my birthday; and there's the next NJO book coming out soon by Aaron Allston.

One of my colleagues was reading "Once" and I told him I had it too. He told me that he didnt think I should read it because it was very pervy and young ladies shouldnt be reading books like that!

    WTF???

Do you have the one volume LOTR novel, Cass? If you can manage that, you can manage The Stand.
