    Why would the empire use AT-ST for the battle on endor? Biped machines on such uneven, cluttered terrain? Surely the empire has several mechanized transport battle vehicles(perhaps with some sort of hover capabilities, like the speeder bikes)to use on such terrain. Anyway, look what happened in the end, that shows my point exactly!

    It was the only vehicle they had available that had both the maneuverability to walk in the forest, and the firepower for the battles. Speeder bikes had the maneuverability, but no firepower, and the AT-ATs had the firepower but no maneuverability. The AT-STs were the perfect choice.

    Well, they were pretty big and durable, though. They weren't expecting the Ewoks to have traps set.

    "Surrender, in our moment of glory?"

    Something makes me think that sometimes the Empire can get a little cocky with expectations of their enemies and how they can handle the threats toward them. Maybe they didn't think it all through?

    Plus - like others have said: they didn't think about the furry bears with sticks and stones. 8-}
