I always thought Luc Besson's crappy Lockout was a bad Escape from New York rip off. Apparently, John Carpenter did too and sued Besson and his fellow screenwriters. Carpenter won the law suit.

I am just super shocked that they have actually let Saban put his name all over the new Power Rangers movie. Not to mention that he's actually writing the new script with the director.

This answers the question as to why they have gone with new names, but will have the Rangers "END UP," in the Original Costumes with the ORiginal Dino Zords. Saban wanted continuity with his universe and he apparently got it. Although it doesn't seem like the old Villaina like Rita and Goldar will be coming back.

IMO, there was way more money in a film that had all the trimmings and said **** it to continuity.

Makes me worry that we're in for a film with a very familiar formula. Rumors have it that the film starts with the current PW's facing a new enemy attacking the morphing grid. This has losing powers all over it. Which means the rest of the film deals with a new batch of teens who will need to get the NEW/Old powers and defeat the bad guys. Which could very well mean you won't see a "Morphing Time," until the end of the film.

In the world of endless reboots, and inspired by the all female Ghostbusters, we have a reboot of Ocean's Eleven, with an all or mostly female cast led by Sandra Bullock.

I don't object to the all female cast, just the need for another reboot.

    Sandra Bullock as Danielle Ocean?

So I'm not necessarily sure if this is relevant here, but I found this:

and thought it would be cool to post it since it really helped me to visualize different aspect ratios.

I'm hoping that the image for "European widescreen" won't cause any issues (everything looked properly censored to me).

Saban has the rights to the franchise (he bought them back from Disney in 2010, so technically he could 'take the toys and go home' so to speak if Lionsgate balked.

He has the TV rights, he may not have the movie rights.

Still, at least the rumors were wrong and it is indeed the original rangers.

My understanding from when I heard the original news in 2010 is that he owns the PR rights full stop, TV and film.

And yes, at least it is the original rangers.

I've heard good things about The Thomas Crown Affair, Three Days of the Condor and Dunston Checks In.

I really do like Ordeal by Innocence with Donald Sutherland. It's an Agatha Christie adaptation, but it's one of her late, really grim nihilistic affairs. Dunaway only has a brief cameo appearance, basically, but the cast is good: Diana Quick from Brideshead Revisited, Ian McShane, etc.. It's got a great hook, which is that Sutherland's character, Calgary, returns from a long, long scientific expedition and discovers that a hitchhiker he picked up just before his trip has been executed for murder. The sting? It seems that Calgary would have been able to give the hitchhiker an alibi, but the police assumed that his tales of getting a ride from a stranger weren't true since they weren't able to find Calgary. This sets Calgary off on a trek to find the real killer and thus assuage his guilt somewhat. It's an eighties movie all over, but I liked it. The ending is nice.
