“John Wick” Helmer Tackling “Highlander” Reboot

I have such mixed feelings. I love the Highlander concept, I love the original film, I do think there is room to make an even better version, but... you've got to have that Queen soundtrack. The Michael Kamen score was also iconic. Without these things it's not really Highlander.

 

I saw this a few days ago, and I was honestly a bit underwhelmed by it. It's held together by several strong performances, but it aims to juggle several tones at once, often to mixed effect.

don't get me wrong. this looks like it was shot beautifully, but the plot feels exactly the same.

 

No, Silence is based on a novel about 2 Jesuit Missionaries (Driver and Garfield) who are sent to Japan during the 1630's to locate their Jesuit mentor (Neeson). All 3 Jesuits and Japanese Catholics face persecution at the hands of the Tokugawa Shogunate after a rebellion by Japanese Catholics.

The Mummy (2017) just released a teaser trailer a couple hours ago. Had no idea that they were rebooting the franchise, Russell Crowe and Tom Cruise star. The full trailer will be released on Sunday.

i don't think it's a reboot of the brendan frasier mummy series, but supposedly the start of the new universal monster cinematic universe, with like the wolfman and dracula and stuff.

I'm actually not against that. Changing her into a monstrous Alien being makes sense if you want to do something new and actually make sense of a character who originally was just an older women in a weird witch costume.

Basically it a clever way to make her wearing that costume make sense.

 

Ever notice alot of Japanese fictional charecters who get westernized have names that start with an R or L? Is this an inside joke knowing orientals will have trouble phonetically with said name?
