Chic, IL ATOC ON IMAX?

A midnight showing on Oct. 31st...hmmm...
It depends if I have anything going on that
day or not. I really hope they don't cut
anything from the Imax version, even any
annoying scenes. It should be shown in
it's true length.

Evidently the issue is they HAVE to cut 23 minutes, because the film physically will not fit on the reels that feed the projector. It can only handle 120 minutes, and AOTC is 143. If you have ever seen an IMAX projector, you know that's still an awful lot of film. Too bad they have to cut it, though.

Can you imagine a digital IMAX? <swoon>

 

I'm of the opinion that an edit of the film might actually improve it. There are a lot of things about the film that just didn't work. If they're gone or at least trimmed down to a bare minimum, that could make a world of difference. Well, we'll see how it looks in a month and a half. The DVD will be out less than 2 weeks after that, with deleted scenes and all, so you'll get to watch that as much as you want. It won't be as big as an IMAX screen unless you have Frank's 2000" TV.

With our luck, they will chop the Anakin/Dooku lightsaber battle and make it even shorter.

Hey, maybe on the big screen, I'll be able to spot the X-Wing and TIE Fighter in the Coruscant traffic.

 

JodoKast - I must admit that scene did
end up being pretty darn laughable. It was
meant to be serious and evidence that Anni
was further turning towards the darkside,
but it ended up being laughable. I felt
like shouting out, "Cry Anni, Cry!"...hehe.
It's been a while since I've last seen it,
but there were parts that did seem to drag.
I think some it had to do with the
"But I'm a senator and you're a jedi
apprentice" talk that went back and forth.
They MUST NOT cut any scenes involving
Mace Windu! He's one bad mother...watch your
mouth!...That was one of the coolest parts of
the movie, Shaft as a Jedi.

other than that...I don't care...I will just be glad to see it again!

I know people will come after me with a baseball bat...but why does Anakin (Christiansen) get the dis-ing? .....Lucas wrote the script!

gotta run and get some plastic to cover up for the over-ripe tomatoes that will be tossed in my direction......

Oh the dreaded Meadow scene! I couldn;t
stand that scene the second time I saw
the movie. Not only is it dreadfully
annoying, it doesn't quite fit with the
rest of the Star Wars movies. The Han/Leia
scenes in ESB seemed to fit, but the
Meadow scene...it just went on and on.
I have to say, I wasn't as impressed
with Hayden as I thought I would be. At
times he comes off with that BackStreet/
N'Sync image. But hey, at least it's not
Leonardo DiCrapio...whew!

 

I'm hoping that the film will make it here soon, even with the 23 minutes trimmed from it. It'll tide me over until the DVD hits, and it'll be interesting to see it in the IMAX format.

Actually, Jonathan Hales penned the final shooting draft, but I have a feeling that he wasn't permitted by George to touch a lot of the romantic dialogue on Naboo.

I just got off the phone with the Navy Pier IMAX theater. They said they will be getting Star Wars Episode II on November 1. Yay!

The Only IMAX theatre that I have seen confirm is in Addison. The Quad City Jedi Order will be there fir the Saturday showing if we decide not the go to Indy.

 

I checked the Addison Marcus IMAX web site for information/advance ticket sales...nothing so far...but I will continue to check....

A gathering of Quad Cities AND Chicago Force at one place would be awesome!
We have almost a month to sychronize our watches!

I was just on MapQuest and found out that Addison is only an hour from DeKalb, so I could quite possibly make it! I'm so very excited.

 

Jedi Gemini Addison marcus Theater is my personal Favorite. Lots of parking and not crowded at all during the week.

Side note: Does anyone want to see AOTC GL Commentary that's on the DVD that's going to come out? If so e-mail me.

Tried calling the IMAX in Addison yesterday...just get a phone droid...will try for a better phone number and try to speak to an actual sentient being!
