Attack of the Clones...a misnomer?

Yawn-fest, that is soooo boring. AOTC is snappy and screams action!!!!


Defence = boring
Attack = entralling

 

i'm sure lucas felt that way to so thats why we get a title that doesnt make sense like aotc

 

How does it not make sense?

The clones are there to defend the Republic from the seperatist threat. The clones are never really Attacking.

 

Yes, they are. It doesn't matter in the least why they do it, because the fact remains: They are attacking the Separatists.
Besides, the title is designed to be misleading. It's designed to make you believe that the Republic will be attacked by clones, when in fact, they're attacking the Separatists.

This is exactly the point that I wanted to bring up.

If you are attacking someone or something to protect yourself, is it attack or defense?

 

besides who would be xcited to see a movie called attack of the clones? empire strikes back is a cheesy title but also a cool one

 

I always thought "Assist of the Clones" to be more appropriate!

It would be pretty boring if all the titles worked in the same way.

The clones aren't doing it to protect themselves. They're doing it because it's their job.
Technically, no matter how you look at it, it's an attack.

I agree the title is misleading, but still appropriate.

When you go into the movie you automatically assume the attack will be a "bad" thing, that they will attack the good guys. Then, it is actually a very surprising moment when you realize the attack of the title is actually a "good" thing - they are fighting with the Jedi. Then of course, it is all ultimately tinged with doom anyway because we know they really are bad, and the attack, in the greater sense IS in fact very bad after all.

Love it.

Also, I don't think it is right to say they are "defending" the Jedi. It LOOKS like they are, but in reality everything they are doing is ultimately designed to "attack" the republic.
