French-Canadian is not a race, it's an affliction.

I'm from Boston, and have visited Montreal quite a few times. I can't tell you how many times I was out at a club or in a bar or restaurant and the French-Canadian waiter/maitre'd/bartender would talk to other employees and insult the people I was with in French, and then just smile. I let them go on for a little while, then I'd ask them in French why they had no guts to insult me in a language that everyone in the room can understand.

Then they become your best friend until you leave. If your going to talk $&@!, have the guts to back it up. I don't speak French well, but I understand most of what I hear, I just have trouble responding. I don't take any of this seriously, but more often than not the French Canadians give Americans plenty of reason to have contempt for them.

Racial/Ethnic stereotypes only exist because the people whom are offended by them typically are the ones who perpetuate them.

Taken out of context, anything humorous can be used to hurt someone.

My earlier comments about the French Canadian Waiter/bartenders wasn't meant to be racist against them. More so to point out how ignorant they think most Americans are, which in a lot of cases is true. We're good people, just naive.

And all of this proves how completely baseless any comments of GL being a racist are.

I'm sorry. You said this, not me. And I'm pretty sure it was not a joke. Exactly how someone can call a group of people an "affliction" and still be credible to talk about sterotypes and racism is beyond me. If this statement was about Latinos or African-Americans this thread would be locked and the person flamed no questions asked.

I think it's funny how people who make the most noise about racism are from the "race" that perpetuates the problem.

I think IronParrot is very creative in making all the similes between AOTC and French-Canadian politics and history.

I do agree that if this topic were about African-Americans or Latin people it would get locked immediately. That's why racism still exists. It's hard to talk about something delicate like racism if you are racist or have racist roots.

Oh, okay, so all Arab people and Arab Americans are terrorists and engage in terrorist activity, right? All Latino people can barely speak English and are illegal aliens, right? All Black people are criminals and violent? Oh and of course all White people are racists and comepletely unhip. And thus, their behavior is what perpetuates the stereotypes. This is BLATANTLY RACIST and offensive yet Iron Parrot and the other supposed "moderators" allow it. Why? Because it's clear they don't care about racial issues and don't understand them.

I am stating the reason why people make threads like this. If the truth hurts you, too bad. I am also not asking that the thread be locked.

Again, it's a joke thread, spoofing the claims people make of racism in Star Wars, and more specifically, AOTC.

Honestly, I don't see what the big deal is. Starting large debates over wether or not it should be closed only bumps it back up to the top. If you really want it closed, perhaps you should ask IronParrot.
