Attack of the Clones: the film that TPM should have been

P.S. Gomer, I like "Revenge of the Sith" very much. I would say that's the odds on favorite title at this point.

I take it back. "Attack of the Clones" has grown on me in one day. In fact, I think it is my favourite title. A bit like "Robocop" or "Starship Troopers". It's cheesy but good.

 

I guess it's not as bad as I first thought. I was pretty taken back by the title when I heard it, but now I've had a chance to let it sink in. If it really is about the attack of the clones, I will be happy. So I guess the title isn't that bad. Just kind of campy. Which can be good.

 

Attack of the Clones is a seriously KICK-ASS title. Many hard consonants and it implies ACTION.

 

Good point Gabor. It does kind of sound exciting, doesn't it?

 

I LOVE the title of episode II.

It seems very much like Star Wars to me.

I never thought I'd see the day!

When I saw the title in AotC/EpIII forum, my first thought was, 'This was a lame fan boy attempt!'
Then I went to the official site. It was confirmed.
I laughed myself silly and thought George lost it. All the bashing of TPM made him go insane!
It was like that for a while. Then I thought of the other titles, especially ESB. Then it started growing on me. This title is pure Star Wars at it's best! A nice slightly cheesy, Saturday popcorn flick.
When I told all of my friends who weren't neccessarily fans, but enjoyed the movies reguardless I got the following:

'Oh my GOD! Tell me you're joking!'
'Is that the working title? The REAL one!? UGH!'
'That's AWFUL!'
'Oh no. . .'
'LOL!!!'
'I think it's kinda neat '
'So it DOES deal with the Clone Wars?'

All of them eventually warmed up to the title. Maybe Lucas hasn't lost all of us yet

That is a cheesy name if you ever heard one. But guess what? We all love it!

This title is NOT as straightforward as it sounds. And I wouldn't extend your 'Phantom Menace shows up early, Empire Strikes Back early' thing to this, you might be setting yourself up for a letdown.

Ewan McGregor calls Attack Of The Clones a "terrible, terrible title".

I never thought I'd say this, but Ewan needs to shut the ****** up.

It's funny how it's perfectly alright for the fans to complain about the title for Episode II, but when sometime who's actually acting in it complains, everyone gets offended. Oh, the humanity...or Vogonity, if you're a Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy fan.

Attack of the Clones....hmmm....it has a certain ring to it.

 

I know its confirmed, and I'll get used to it, but I cant help remembering that GL had told everybody EpVI would be Revenge of the Jedi, and it became Return of the Jedi.

 

I just heard about the title 10 minutes ago and am still in the deep dislike stage. Hey, even as a basher, I liked the named "The Phantom Menace." It's layered. It has lots of cool possibilities. Attack of the Clones? You've got to be kidding me.

Guys, let's not forget what we all really wanted in TPM but never really got: a war!! GL is giving us exactly what we asked for and he's shoving it in our face with the title!!

The trailer for EII is going to ROCK. I hope it features a lot of Natalie, though, I hope it focuses on the love story and not the Obi-Wan plot. I think GL should just call EII 'Padme is really hot in this movie, come watch it', and make the trailer all about her.
