Abq AUGUST MEETING

August Meeting this weekend folks. If I get some time today, the newsletter will go out.

But please be aware we will be meeting at the Ten Pins & More Bowling Alley for the meeting. Depending on the number of people there for the New Mexico Open, we may move it outside or to a nearby park.

The only thing I have on the agenda is Bubonicon plans. Wook may have some other items to talk about.

I've only got Bubonicon, the DVD release, and Halloween plans - short and sweet so we can get to the pin action

Would love to hear more about whats up for Halloween( Me Favorite Holiday!!!) Cause at midnight that night guess what? well we all know!!

Short meeting since the bowling alley was rowdy with those "Pro Bowler" types.

We talked about this coming weekend's Bubonicon events. You can read about that at the Bubonicon thread or:
- Raffle - people are donating some great prizes for the raffle. Thanks to those of you who are!
- Auction - silent auction going to be run by Julie of some sign pieces donated by Jason/bobasparxx and an art print donated by Viv. Thanks a mill, you two!
- Table sales - if you've got stuff to sell at the table, feel free to do so. However, you are responsible for your stuff!
- Fan Films - Cyndi has willingly stepped up to run the fan film period since Bob will be unavailable during that time.
- 501st - many of our FF/501st members will be trooping the weekend making our Star Wars Club known.
- DJ Rebo has offered his services for the weekend, which we may be taking up either in the Dealer Room or in Jess or Joe's suite.

DVD Release
- There are four places that are currently being bandied about (1) Rio Rancho Hastings (2) Coors/Montano Hastings (3) Winrock Toys R Us (4) Eubank/I-40 Walmart. We trooped the Coors/Montano Hastings last September in support of the OT DVD release, so we have prior experience with that store. However, Jen works at the RR Hastings and it sounds like they've got some neat events planned for the midnight release. It's a smaller store, but they are definitely interested in having us there. Jon/Jerahl works at the Winrock TRU and has also let management there know we are interested in possibly trooping there for the release. Back at the end of April, several Mos Alba/501st members trooped there for charity and had a nice turnout. And of course, Jason and James work at the Eubank/I-40 Walmart and are always very accomodating and happy to host us. We have a little over a month to work this out, so we'll be talking about this heavily. The midnight release also happens to fall on Halloween evening, so...

Halloween
- Michelle wanted to touch on this, but was later than Bob (I know, the world's going to end). We'll be discussing this soon

Symphonic Star Wars
- Update to the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra's Symphonic Star Wars concerts. Jess and Bob spoke with the Assistant Director of Marketing and let him know what is available from our group. He's very excited, the conductor of the orchestra for this concert is very excited, and now we are awaiting some final okays on some details from the program director. More information in the next week


That's all. After that, the Strike Force Bowling League started and everyone spread to the four winds...

 

Okay, were you being picky about the "day" portion? Because, technically, it's still daytime on the 24th somewhere on the planet. I think. How far behind us is Hawaii?
