So, I may be moving to Austin, Texas for various and sundry reasons. A big reason we are, is to advance my film-making career. We are going to drive down and visit over Labor Day weekend, to see how we like it.

Has anyone here ever been to Austin, or better yet, lived there?

I am interested in learning as much as I can, pros and cons, etc. about living in Austin, and film-making there.

I live in Austin. Not sure if I can do it though. Might be out of town on labor day weekend, hell I might even be working.

I have a friend that lived there for awhile. She said that everyone running around there is a college age communication/media/film major and it is, if I'm not mistaken, the home of Robert Rodriguez.

This article was a big determining factor in choosing Austin:

I live roughly 200 miles north of Austin and it's pretty hot here. But if you move there Labor Day weekend, then it won't be long before it starts cooling down.

The weather doesn't bother me. I've lived in Maine, North Carolina, Okinawa, Japan, and Amarillo.

I can handle whatever you want to throw at me.

I challenge you to spend a week in New Orleans. ;)

I've lived in many places and visited many more, but there is no other place like New Orleans when it comes to yucky weather. Its the only place where you actually have to put effort in to breathing because the air is so thick and humid.

But, if you spend 8million dollars or more on a movie, you're entitled to some incredible tax credits. So, save your pennies... ;)
