FF:SA Australian Costumer's Guild

Hey,

I know that many of us are into costumes, and I wanted to make sure that you all know about the Australian Costumer's Guild. The Adelaide folks have recently taken over the running of the national guild, and are working on getting it more well known around the place. We have a magazine that comes out every couple of months with lots of articles and useful information, and we also have regular events, workshops and get togethers, each with different themes. Though, as a rule, there is at least one sci-fi event every year Next year's sci-fi event will be a quiz night with a 'star' theme, so you can come in a costume that is from anything with 'star' in the name, like STAR wars, STAR trek, STARgate, or even battleSTAR galactica.

We are working on getting more people involved, so if you are thinking of joining, or you have some ideas, and want to contribute, send me a pm and I will put you in touch with someone

The next event is a Christmas party in early December, and I think that it has a general theme, so you could wear your Star Wars costume, or anything else that you have hanging in your wardrobe

Starting next year, Adelaide will also be the host of the national ball, which used to be held in Melbourne. I think it will be around August.

They are working on getting a website online, but in the meantime, feel free to send me a pm

Edit: By the way, you don't have to necessarily 'make' costumes, just enjoy wearing them

It is a lot of fun, and we are working on bringing the Australian group back to life, so it is a very exciting time

Unfortunately, their new website is not up yet. I was planning on waiting until it was up and running before promoting it, but it could be a while, so I thought that I would say something now anyway. I'll send you all PMs with the contact details.
