Anyone know what squadron the B-Wings belonged to in the Battle of Endor? They never reported in.

I believe it was gray or blue squadron from the paintjob on the ships.

Like y-wings were 'gold squadron' and a-wings were painted green for "green squadron".

The Y-wings in the Battle of Endor were Gray Squadron. I don't think they tell you the name of the B-wing squadron. At least not in the films.

The B-wings I believe were Gray Squadron.

    Red: X-wings
    Green: A-wings
    Gold: Y-wings
    Gray: B-wings

Well, Colonel Horton Salm was Gray Leader in RotJ, and he pilots Y-wings. Maybe it was a mix?

He moved to B-wings by TKT, so I think he may have piloted B-wings before, then moed to Y-wings to help train new squadrons, and then got back into B-wings.

Lando was Gold leader so perhaps the B-Wings were with him. Lando cant be the only ship in his squadron. I know that the Y-Wings were Grey squadron though.

The squadrons as far as I can tell were mixed at Endor, evident by Red 1 being an X-Wing, Red 2 being an Y-Wing and Red 3 being a A-Wing. So probably the B-Wings were amassed over several squads. But anyway they weren't seen in the battle being apparently they didn't show up well enough on screen so they scrapped their scenes. And as far as no B-Wings reporting, well there probably were no B-Wing squad leaders.

IIRC, all the Reds were in X-wings. The members of Rogue Squadron, however, were split into different ships (Wedge: X-wing, Tycho: A-wing, etc.)

I was pretty sure Lando was leading the Y-wings as Gold Squadron, and that the B-wings were Gray... but your explanation for why they didn't appear does make sense...

Plus, B-wings were designed to be the replacement for the Y-wing, and were designed to take on capital ships, which is what Gray Squadron did, IIRC.

At TKT Colonel Horton Salm's Aggressor (or was it Defender by then?) Wing was a mix of Y-wings and B-wings. I don't remember if he was piloting a Y-wing there though.

Hmmm Wedge was Red Leader at Endor. I don't get where you're coming from. ?[face_plain]

And I'm pretty sure they just mixed the squads. The mass importance of that battle was to important to make proper squadron etiquette IMHO.

I thought it was like this:

    Red: X-Wings
    Green: A-Wings
Gold: Led by Lando and consists of some of every ship (?)
    Gray:Y-Wings

They couldnt have been in Blue because they would have called in. Im inclined to go with them either being in a mixed group or being led by Lando.

It doesn't matter that they didn't call in; it could have happened "off screen." The only thing that matters is that they did belong to Blue Squadron, no question about it.

B-wing pilots are notoriously bad about checking. They're pilots on the edge, who play by their own rules. Maybe that's why there's none left at the end of the battle (the guy partying with the Ewoks had gotten his suit zipper stuck and wasn't involved). :p

Anyway, Blue's good. Interestingly, the novelization never mentions B-wings, either, even though it describes a lot more of the original Endor space battle elements that never made it to the film, like the big cruiser battles (what made it to the film was just a tiny piece) and the ships hitting the shield.

The squadrons at Endor were mixed.

    Red Leader: X-Wing
    Red 2: Y-Wing

    Attack on DSII
Lando: "Red Group, Gold Group, all fighters follow me."

MF is followed by X-Wings, Y-Wings, and A-Wings.
