    Hello everybody,
I just received word yesterday that I will be a first time father this coming summer!
My wife and I have started discussing names, and I really want one based on Star Wars! I'm sure I can get her to agree... ;)

What I am looking for is your ideas for names for either girls or boys that have some sort of Star Wars tie in!

Please be creative and thorough! Our babies happiness and midichlorian count rests in your loyal fan hands!

    Thanks.

Boba would be cool...it would give him/her that mysterious, bounty hunter mystique I have been trying to acquire for myself for quite some time!

    Thanks, Flyingseal!

Did you get your screen name from watching the footage of killer whales hitting seals with their tails?

Jar Jar? He was bad enough in the movies. Poor kid would be made fun of in kindergarten for that one! But it's definitely a possibility.

    Thanks.

    No not really :p...
I came up with it when I had to think of a callsign for a combat flight simulator game...
At first I just wanted to use the name "seal" but that sounded too boring so I added flying to it since it was a flight simulator game :D

My favourite name in Star Wars, in all seriousness, is Anakin. I LOVE that name!

However, since I wouldn't actually want it to be obvious that I named my child after Star Wars, I'd go for an EU name - like Jacen or Jaina. I love those names as well!

    First of all, congratulations!

As far as a name, hmmm.... something a little obscure, that only a good SW fan would pick up on I think.... Mace? Might be good, but not that obscure. Coleman? Wedge? Kyp? Jacen? (Okay, those two are EU but still SW to me :D)

    Hope those help you out!

Wedge sounds really cool! At least it's better than Jar Jar or Biggs...

I can see kids calling him Wedgie though, and that might be hard on him.

Thanks for the congrats, and keep the ideas rolling...I like the name Torryn for a girl, as in Torryn Farr. What do you think?

Darth? Palpatine? Jabba? Ohh! Ohhh! Sidious! ;)

Seriously, if it's a girl, Mara, perhaps?

I already tried the Darth thing with "she who must be obeyed," but to no avail...

Now Mara I could probably convince her of!

She actually brought up the Lucas bit!
I really like the name Jaina, too. I have a friend who named his kid Jacen, so I wouldn't be able to use that one.

Since I first saw ROTJ in 1997, I wanted to call my son Anakin, and I still do, but it's far away yet, I'm only 14!!!

I think Anakin's a good name, seriously, wo would name there son Boba?

Lucas is also a good name, but I think you should go for baby Anakin, just incase that day never comes for me :(

Hmm, if you don't mind the EU:

    Gavin
    Wes
    Mara
    Jaina
    Jacen

    Films:
    Luke, and possibly Leia work

Congratulations, first of all! ;) If I had to choose a name from Star Wars, I'd definitely say Ben for a boy. For a girl, Padme or better yet one of the handmaiden names cause less people will identify them as being something Star Wars.

I agree with Wild_Huntress, if it's a girl one of the handmaiden names would be cool. In my opinion anyway:

Saché, Sabé, Rabé, Dormé, Cordé...etc. With or without the accented 'é' it sounds exotic and only really big Star Wars fans would notice it. :)

Actually, I wouldn't mind being called Rabé... ;)

First, congratulations and best wishes for a healthy delivery for your wife and child.

Second, some ideas for SW names that won't put your child into therapy for schoolyard teasing.

Consider names of the actors who play your favorite characters or other crew. Nicholas for Nick Gillard, the stunt coordinator.

For character names that are subtle yet meaningful:

A boy, Benjamin, so you will have a young Ben (Kenobi)

Jedidiah, especially as a middle name, would be good. Solomon (Heb. "peaceful"), also called Jedidiah, i. e., "beloved of Yahweh"

    2 Samuel 12 Consider:
25 And [David] sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet; and he called [Solomon?s] name JEDIdiah, because of the LORD.
