JCC Bad baby names

I completely heard that in my head in Nine's voice.

Now there's a thought, I wonder if anybody has tried to name their kid after a Doctor's incarnation number.

 

How would anyone know that was a Doctor character and not just a number? It's kind of hard to name your kid after a character without a name. Thank God. I may have, as a child, and before the PT, thought that Anakin would be a good name for a kid some day... but even 10 year old me was smart enough to realize that was instantly a horrible idea once that name became widely known. Naming your kid after a show or film is awful, unless the origin wouldn't be obvious.

And I always hear Nine when I read Guy's posts. Or speak to him in person.

A colleague of mine's last name is Franken.
She called her son Stein.

 

I'm just going to name my kid AAARRRRRGGGHHHH. Easier to pronounce.

 

I was going to say "What's wrong with Franken, it's the last name of a Senator?" until I read that last sentence. Poor kid.

 

You'd think "Mistake" would be one of the top bad baby names in that list. Works for either gender and it'd come from the heart. "Error" would actually sound like a pretty cool name when said in a rolling "r" accent. "This is my son, "Errórrrr." ​

Speaking of bad baby names, I always thought Costanza's "Soda" suggestion was a decent name. Yes, Seven is better, but Soda...it's bubbly, it's refreshing!

 

Serious question: how bad is it really to name fraternal twins Luke and Leia?

 

i was going to say that their generation probably wouldn't get the reference, but i guess they're making some new movies or something so it's pretty bad. especially bad if these new movies end up being really bad. bad. bad bad bad.

To be fair, given the sorry state of most sex - ed programs in the US, the parents might have simply looked at the name and thought it sounded lovely without knowing what it really meant. Doesn't actually make it any better.
