it is a little debatable, but that is answered in ROTJ, when Vader kills Sid, though he really doesn't

This is my feeling as well, and it is why I posted this very question. Although when you think about "balance" in this regard, it would seem that a balance like that would be very hard to maintain.. ? The NJO in the OT already has this theory flawed, as there are no sith left, but there is a Jedi - Luke. So the force is then "unbalanced"??
    what say you?
I felt the prophecy fooled everybody and if you look at it in a certain way... the force understood the corruptness of the Jedi and realized things had to change. The prophecy was not a good thing for the Jedi eventhough they thought it was and actively looked for "The Chosen One". The way I look at it is it basically said, the Jedi have ultimate power in the Galaxy, creating a disruption in the force, and this has to change. Its like playin cards against a six year old or playing your Grandmother in basketball, if you do it long enough you become complacent and sloppy. The Jedi in the Old Republic were becoming just as bad as what they are fighting against and the force realized this. Equalness under the force would make the Jedi understand and become greatful of for they had. So basically the prophecy was only up to ROTS, when there were 2 Jedi and 2 Sith.

P.S. If the Jedi in TPM thought the Sith were exterminated, (and by the fact that most people think Balence means No Sith) why would they actively search for "the Chosen One"?
They weren't actively searching for the Chosen One, they knew the Prophecy and the Force simply brought Anakin to Qui-Gon Jinn.

While if you accept the EU he didn't kill him, however the version of Palpatine that did survive isn't the manipulating mastermind that brought the Republic to it's knees, the one that returned was far less intellegent and was able to be defeated by Luke and Leia.

FYI wikipedia.com is NOT 100% FACT, it is people writing for people, not everything is correct.

Everything I put is correct. Not to mention the little 2 Jedi 2 Sith thingy also doesn't work because at the end of RotS there were more than 2 Jedi still alive. They were still spread across the galaxy, waiting to be hunted down by the Empire.

If you think there is any other kind of balance besides destroying the sith completely, you don't understand the movies.

S/N...On another post you said the Jedi were actively looking for the Chosen One. Wrong. They weren't looking for him, Qui-Gon just happened to find him by the Will of the Force. It's not like the council told every Jedi that went on a mission, "in addition to your regular assignment look for the Chosen One".

Balance equals 0 jedi and 0 sith; the force becomes neutral again. As Vader dies, Luke finally becomes a true jedi knight, and the imbalance begins anew.

IMO the Force is in balance when there's only good. The Sith using the Force for evil creates an imbalance that the redeemed Anakin puts back in balance in ROTJ by killing the last of the Sith: Palpatine.
