"The hilarious bluffing game!"


It's back, after much delay: Bluffin' Balderdash! Based on the popular board game Balderdash, we now have the privilege of having our very own JC version just for you!

Part of the large appeal for this game is the fact that it requires no extra knowledge or research to play. All you need is the ability to write. The results are all up to your wit and discernment. A clever game indeed.

For those of you who have played the board game, this will be very familiar to you. However, please still read this opening post so you know how the game converts onto the forums!

Following are the simple rules and hows of the game:

Objective:

"To invent a phony definition for each word in play that could be mistaken by the other players as the correct definition. To identify and choose the correct definition for each word in play."

Hows:

1. Each round starts after I post a word. The words that I post will be obscure and you will have never heard of them before. You are not supposed to recognise them. Each of these words has a meaning.

2. Your job is to create your own phony meaning (definition) for the word. It may be as long or short or convoluted as you like. Often the crazier, the better. Once you have created your meaning, you give that meaning to me. Do not tell anyone else what it is.

3. When I have received everyone's meaning I will then show them to everyone, including the real meaning of the word. You then have to guess which meaning is the real one. The only clue you have to your advantage is your instinct.

4. The aim is to guess the real answer, but also to get people to guess your meaning. That is how you score.

Scoring:

You receive 2 points for picking the right meaning at the end of each round. For every person that guesses your meaning as the right one, you get 1 point. Often people receive more points because multiple people guessed their meaning than because they chose the correct one. You may guess for your own meaning as a bluff to lead other people on, but you will not score a point off of your own guess. In addition, if your meaning receives a guess, you must participate in that round yourself by guessing for somebody else's meaning or even for your own to be eligible to collect any points for the guess(es) on your meaning. Points are cumulative and at the end of the ten rounds of play the person with the most points is the winner.

If there is ever a case of a tie at first place after the game has finished, it will be decided by a count back on the rounds. The person with the highest number of correct guesses is declared the winner. If it is still even, the person with the highest number of guesses for an individual round will take victory.

To add some flare to the game, the host, the person you listen to, that which is me, can earn points as well. Which also means that it is possible, oh yes it is, that I can win. If nobody is to guess the correct meaning for a particular round, I collect a nice round of 3 points. Otherwise, I am scoreless. Carry on, ladies and gentlemen.

Rules of the hows:

1. Each round will be posted as close to midnight (12 a.m.) boardtime as I can.

2. From the time I post the word for the round, you have 48 hours to PM me with your meaning. It would be smart for you, and helpful to me, if you spelled words correctly and did not do any typos. Since this game will be done with people reading your definition and not hearing
