Season 3 starts on Wednesday, October 4th.

 

Excellent! Shouldn't be long then before it comes out in the UK. Any idea on how many series' there are going to be all together?

 

At least four. I heard that the creators of the show have stated that if the show lasts longer than four seasons (a season is what we call a "series" here in the US) they won't be a part of the show for the rest of it's run. I imagine the reason is that they'd just rather do other things, and not that they don't want the show to go on longer than that.

Somewhere else, they've said that they've written enough outline for the show to last up to eight seasons, if it can stay strong that long. But IMO, due to the nature of the show, it'll probably (need to) run no longer than about five or six seasons.

What are your thoughts on the CAnon XL1 or XL1s?

 

Good camera, I like it. But I'd go HD. No point buying a SD camera, then upgrading your computer, then having to buy a new camera when you're ready to go HD. That's my thought on the matter

 

any examples of good HD cams?
I'm only liking the XL1 because I'm finding very good deals on ebay...
I can get two XL1's for the same price I'd find 1 gl2 at a retailer's site.

EDIT: Are 2 camcorders better than one?
I know there is luxury /preference vs. reality here, but how hard is it to edit all that?

Oh, no, it gets better. I have a computer the was built from (admittedly quite decent) scrounged parts, and no internet access. I use my laptop at the library with their free WiFi; I'm one of those durn in-tah-lekshuals who actually goes to a library when I don't have to. And this laptop was "liberated" from a Microsoft junk pile by a friend of mine who used to work there; it was destined to be destroyed anyway...why not get some use out of it?

That's because what you're looking at is most likely a SCAM. Here's your eBay camera checklist:
- too good a price? SCAM
- overseas? SCAM
- Western Union? SCAM
- cancelling auction and offering by e-mail? SCAM
- missing accessories included in box? SCAM
- user feedback not 100%? SCAM

Realistic capital-ship vs. capital-ship combat--infilitrate as infantry (if you can get a transport across to board!), bombing runs, fighters running interference, RTS-styled controls for the captains of each ship, all for free if you own HL2 and available in just a few days.

Holy crap this looks cool.

 

Wow, that might just convince me to re-install Half-Life 2.

 

Episode One is a perfectly good reason for a re-install (especially with the super-cool commentary system), but the mod scene just clinches it. Another good example: As-yet unnamed game here.

You get sole control of a big spaceship that is under attack by pirates. It's up to you to use the ship's defenses to fight them off from INSIDE the ship--opening doors to the vacuum of space being one idea (illustrated in the POC video in the link), or turrets and what-have-you. Awesome ideas here.

You want cheap then go with the Sony FX1. Have a little bit more to spend then go with the Sony Z1u.
Want to be pampered by HD goodness then go XLH1. I'm fortunate enough to get to use these day in day out and I never get sick of how kick ass they really are.

 

Ooh, beta. I have to say, I never really expected this to actually get done. Out of the 4 or 5 awesome-sounding mods I was originally watching in the early days of Source, this is basically the only one that hasn't completely vanished...

 

Juuuuust about the hardest I have laughed in months, watching again and again.

 

I didn't I just laughed on the inside. Maybe I'm not sleep deprived enough...

 

Yeah I found it pretty lame actually.
