I have no idea what you mean by 'comanding orifcer'. It sounds like some kind of Nazi probing device.

Yeah I saw Ross as well, I suppose he comes back and dies a suitably gruesome and ironic death.

Schwimmer does make a momentary appearance in the next episode, but rest assured, the incompetent ass he plays ain't coming back for more than a cameo appearance. And that is all I will spoil.

Nyder - yes, BoB is well worth your time.

Sithy, relax, the only spoilers I'm giving out are ones designed to keep people interested. People were bitching about David Schwimmer being in the series in the first place, and citing that as a reason not to watch it at all.

I watched the whole episode last night - I have to say it was better than the one last week, and actually interesting to boot!

I'm not too sure about the whole 'directed by tom hanks' thing they are flogging for next week's ep, but we'll see how he goes.

Well, I've already seen "Crossroads", albeit in sub-par quality, but the directing is pretty good. Hanks makes me want to throw a stubbie at the TV as an actor, but as a director, he's something else altogether.

Spoiler alert for Sithy and gang -

I don't think Capt'n Sobel makes another reappearance - his only appearance after Ep 1 in the book was last night's episode.

    The Green Mile was good.

I thought last nights wasn't that great. Perhaps it all pales after D-Day. I think and hour is probably too little time to really explore each adventure.

Does anyone know the name of the Dutch girl in that barn? Wow! :D

Well, compared to D-Day, the 101st Airborne's piece of Operation Market Garden was a milk run. Wait until you see the Battered Bastards of Bastogne - that's when it gets mildly interesting. The entire division going into Bastogne and ending up totally surrounded. And no, I haven't seen the Bastogne episodes of BoB.

I believe, for the most part, it was filmed in Britain. I don't recall much in the way of location shooting - France has some funny laws about firearms and ammunition which either prevented filming there or made it way too expensive.

Okay, I get that this is an american show and from an american perspective yadda yadda yadda, but I think it would be interesting to see a show of this calibre portraying the events of the russians taking berlin.

Is there a movie of this out there somewhere? Anyone? GO'C?

The only Hollywood production of WW2 from the Russian perspective is Enemy at the Gates. It isn't the best of films, but it's the only one I can think of off-hand. There are loads of Russian films about the Great Patriotic War, but those are even more biased than the worst of American war films.

About the best non-partisan film I can think of is a joint German-Russian effort called Stalingrad. It shows on SBS occaisionally, and was made about twelve years ago.
