We know of them, we know a few, but why not try to make a list of them all? Which species-based stereotype do you know?

We've got the 3 above, "Never-tell-me-the-odds" Corellians, Peaceful Alderaanians, political Naboo.....

I wouldn't say that smelly rodians would really be a stereotype as much as a characteristic. I mean, if the whole species secretes something from their pores that just smells bad, they just do. Stereotypes have more to do with behavior than shared physical attributes. Now, if rodians were supposed to smell bad because many of them have bad personal hygeine, that's one matter but I don't think it's the case.

    Anzati are vampires.
    Neimoidians are sleazy businessmen.
    As are Toydarians.
    Gamorreans are stupid.

(Of course, I can think of an exception for every one of these, but oh well...)

Mouse, Luke's friend in Empire comics. And also the female one who worked with Rogue Squadron or Twin Sun squadron or whatever as Jaina's wingmate.

Well, they eat by sucking your life force out of your nose. Is that really a stereotype? Maybe a stereotype as a lurker or something, but they kind of are vampires.

Tuskens a barbaric "sand people" is kind of a stereotype.
Ewoks as pilots (When was the last time we saw an ewok that was just an ewok?)
    Jawas as droid thieves.
    Togorians as pirates.
    Bith as musicians.
Mon Cals as capital ship crewman.
    Trandoshans as wookie hunters.
    Jedi as all-powerful heroes.
    Jedi as villainous traitors.

    There's too many to list

Yep. A lot of these "stereotypes" in the EU are actually just species traits or cultural or explained IU, or whatever. I like to think that most of them are, rather than believing the writers are just lazy. IU explanations are good for that.
Barbaric, yes, but they do kind of live in the sand...
lol Yeah. The funny thing about this is that I assume introducing the first Ewok pilot was intended to be "breaking the stereotype."
    That's cultural.
Weequay, Nikto, and the rest of Jabba's boys, too. Then again, I think there's an IU explanation for this too: these are species that don't leave their worlds often at all, so if they are seen off world it tends to be because of slavers or other illicit activity.
lol Isn't there a novel where a Bith, whose not a musician, complains about this stereotype.
Isn't this just because they make a ton of ships? That is to say, not all the Mon Cals we see are crewmen, but a great deal of the crewmen are Mon Cal.
    Also cultural.
Where are they shown to be villainous traitors?

I think it was in KotOR
Barring the times with been on Mon Calimari/Dac (where the Mon Cals live on big floating island (cough)big ships(cough)), what Mon Cals have we seen who haven't commanded or crewed large ships? I guess there was that one senator, but I can't think of any others, except some of Ackbar's aides, who undoubtedly serve him when he's on the big ships.
Not really from our perspective, but during the Dark Times when the Imperials were spewing out propaganda to the populace.

Also, Bothan spies. You could argue that as cultural, but presumably there must be Bothan non-spies as well, or all Bothan spies would kind of stink because everyone goes "Hey! A Bothan! I bet he's spying!" To which the Bothan says "Curses, foiled again. I wish I could wear a disguise, but I'm too proud for that sort of thing." Of course, that would explain why 9 times out of 10 the Bothan's info is either wrong or planted (or both). I think there was a thread on that a while back.

    A couple of Jedi...um...
    Well...that makes sense, doesn't it>
Good point. Just because something's "cultural" doesn't mean it applies to everyone, of course. One of the reasons I never understood Bothans as spies, especially against the Empire, is because they don't blend in at all. If they're notorious spies, then any Bothan anywhere would be suspect under the right circumstances...but jeez! They're undisguisable.

Quarrens are generally in charge of gangs or branches of gangs (how many Quarrens did we see in charge of parts of the Exchange in the KOTOR games?)

Don't insult the Mandos with comparisons to those... creatures.

    If anything, they're space-faring Vikings.

    Well, "goofy-looking" certainly...

Stereotypes often come about for a good reason, you realize.

    Um, no.

    "Think"? [face_mischief]

Replace "Clones" with "Corellians" and your analogy would be close to perfect.:p

Read the old Rogue Squadron comics. Man are they bad for this. I think one could make a case that the Rebels were as bad or worse then the Imperials based off those alone.

Anaxis are the GFFA's equivalent of Junkers.

    Yevethans are xenophobic jerks.

Sullustans, if they lived on Earth, would all be carrying slide rulers.

Didn't Aayla clarify in one of the CW TPBs that female Twi'leks are, by and large, raised that way? And they store those memories in the brain extensions in the lekku, so even a high-and-mighty Jedi Knight female Twi'lek can revert to a bubly sex-kitten. (that'd be an interesting story for Aayla: if some baddie could force her to revert to his primal sex-kitten urges to prevent her from being a threat)

So, I think that's more cultural than stereotype, thanks to CW

^^ Hear hear. I feel that way about a lot of these "stereotypes." Not all of them, of course. (Corellians piss me off.) But...Gamorreans are depicted as unintelligent, folks, because they are.

Aside from that one Gamorrean pilot, I know there was one who was intelligent and civilized enough to serve as the sergeant-at-arms for the NR Senate (in the Black Fleet Crisis).

BobaMatt - "lol Isn't there a novel where a Bith, whose not a musician, complains about this stereotype. "

The earlier poster was on the right track. It was Bith in one of the cantinas in KotOR II (I think on Onderon, but it's been a while). [face_peace]
