Banner ads with audio: typical?

I don't remember there ever being a banner ad here that also featured audio. Is this common?

Currently, there's an ad running that makes baby sounds. It's really irritating. I've tried reloading the page several times but the same ad keeps coming up.

I know most of you will say "get Firefox, dood!!1!!" but I just want to know - can something be done or will I just have to put up with it?

 

I was just gonna post the same question. The only thread I could find here said that they can't can control the ads, and it was locked. This sex/baby ad is driving me insane though. I thought I had a virus or something at first.

I love firefox's ad blocker. it's so wonderful. I know it's not an option for everyone, but if you can, you should try it.

 

I do know that the Mortal Kombat: Deception ad that ran when it was released had sounds that occured when your mouse rolled over it. I'm just thankful we don't have that banner ad "game" where you "shoot the paparrazi"...with the annoying camera clicking sounds.

I just heard a baby talking. At first I thought it was my full-size 2-1B replica telling me things (again). Damn the banner ads!!!

 

With this one, you don't even have to have the pointer anywhere near it, it just randomly makes these irritating cooing noises.

Don't get me wrong, babies are great and all - it just sucks to have to hear them cooing under some brutal death metal or whatever kind of music I happen to be playing.

 

Oh good, it's an ad. I thought I was going crazy everytime I heard that baby crying.

 

I don't know but it freaked the heck out of me. I didn't think I had a baby.

 

There have been quite a few over the years dating back to the Moulin Rouge ad that pipped up every time your mouse went over it.

Best you can do is either keep your mouse away from them, or just get an ad blocker of some sort.

 

I've not seen an ad in over a year thanks to Firefox.

Sounds like a TFN bot when somebody, but it's only the truth. Research says the same thing.

 

get firefox, that way you can even block the annoying IGN labels on the credits at the bottom of the pages.

 

I haven't seen a banner ad here in ages.

My computer was wailing away on Saturday and I didn't know what was causing it...I wondered what the hell it was. Took me a while before I realised it was an advert here.

I have Firefox and still have ads.

 

You must first download the adblock extension (Tools -> Extensions), and then add filters to block out the content you don't wish to see.
