**BANNER submission contest for SCIFI 3D forum & SITE**

Well... there are no prizes so I guess it's not a contest. What we're looking for is something for SCIFI 3D. If you notice all the other forums have banners specifically for their forums. Everybody is already doing banners with all sorts of images from the films. If we wanted that we could use some of the ones that already exist. What we want is something SCIFI 3D specific. Using some of the best images from diff. places on the site. What we're looking for is 3-5 really good ones that will be rotated out every few months. So the ones that are ultimately accepted will be only 3-5. Just so people know this and are aware that only the BEST in the end will be used. Apparantly it's alot of work to roate them out for us so we can only do it so often. Here are the rules:

Main banner = scifi3d-top_forum.jpg - 764 x 110

Main banner background = scifi3d-topback_forum.jpg- 764 x 110

Curve = scifi3d-curve_forum.jpg - 69 x 69

Sidebar = scifi3d-sidebar_forum.jpg - 32 x 465

Post reply = scifi3d-post_forum.jpg - 437 x 88

Ad holders = scifi3d-adleft_forum.jpg & scifi3d-adright_forum.jpg - 74 x 58


CSS(Cascading Style Sheets): scifi3d_forum.css


JC Banner Guidelines:

1. Include "TheForce.net", and the name of the specific forum "SCIFI 3D Forum".
2. Graphics are usually in jpg format.
3. I want to just use SCIFI 3D logos for the holders. So I've uploaded a zip file on the site for people to look thru and pick something from or edit them to match your banner. Just search for logo on the site.

Custom styles also contain a number of different specific text and table colours that are definable in areas of the page HTML, and in the style-sheets used by the board software.

Style Sheet colours

MainTable - This is the colour that will be used as the background for the board tables, showing up between the separate columns and rows of the boards.

MainMenuRowAlt - This colour will appear in the top table in notification that a new private message has appeared, when a System Message appears, and as the numbers of boards/posts/messages on the main board screen. It is recommended that the 'background-colour' be set to transparent, although any colour can be used.

MainMenuRow - This will define the background colour and the text colour/style of the main table rows seen at the top and bottom of the board pages. This only determines the text colours, not the link colours in those sections.

MainMenuLink - Defines the colour and style of the links that are seen in the top and bottom navigational areas of the board page. It is recommended that the 'background-colour' be set to transparent, although any colour can be used.

BoardColumn - This will define the background and text colour of the single row that appears below the navigational area of the boards, but above the area containing threads/posts, along with being used to highlight specific posts when linking to a post. Mmmmm.... Alley Baggett... mmmmm.

Maybe somebody could do a SITH-themed banner and squeeze here in there somewhere. Obviously TFN has rules about porno and stuff but a creative person could get away wtih something here. Just a tad smaller and you can't even tell she's naked. Hint Hint.

 

Hey I've made about a dozen like this one, for a web callendar, for Sith Order website. Finally, we never used them...

 

I don't know if I made this all clear or not.. but this is for the forum banners that wrap around the forum page. They're broken up into several small pieces. So we're not looking for a rectangle banner.

 

This may help others know what you mean...

Damn Crunchy?

(1). NO, there is no deadline. Somebody may add one at the end of the year and it's so good we'll put it into the line-up. I guess I should mention these issues in the BANNER thread.

(2). Post your stuff in this thread. Let everybody look. More on this next.

(3). You can submit all you want and there WILL be more than one used. They're telling me 2-3 times a year changing it around won't be too much of a problem for them. ALSO we should use this contest for the SCIFI 3D banner too. I'll have to download that image tho and find out the dimensions of it. On SCIFI 3D we can change it all we want so we'll make a script that will rotate it out everyday/week/month/visit/ etc.

(4). I was thinking about running a voting contest yes. Depends on how many are submitted, what they look like, etc. Then I'll pick from those. But I don't want to get myself in a corner and say we'll use whatever wins these votes. I don't want to leave a door open like that and get screwed by it later. So I will reserve final judgement for myself.. to protect myself.

Yea... kinda hard to see some of the non-Alley stuff. They'll never approve it either. Not enough SW stuff in it. It's 100% Alley... not a bad thing by itself.

I wasn't sure if you were serious about submitting this to actually be the forum banners. But if you are then I think the previous comments I made are applicable.

It's an Alley theme.. not SCIFI 3D. You can get away with Alley in there if it's done right. It should be the other way around. 1 or 2 Alley things and the rest SCIFI 3D and Sith stuff. I can ask a couple people to look at it but I'm sure they're gonna say the same thing altho they'll probably enjoy looking at Alley as much as the rest of us.

A question though, are the yellow colors of the topics going to change depending on which banner is used?

Because Seth's banner looks great but it clashes with the yellow.
