Talk about a "grey area". This discussion appears to be over, since nothing of tangible value is being given in response - just wishful thinking along the lines of "things will come my way, just you wait and see". Yeah, it'll be a long wait, all right.

How 'bout you take this argument to a board that caters to such stuff. It doesn't seem to be going anywhere here.

Uhm, because you have representatives and pay taxes. These "rights" also exist in the Constitution. Want to tell me where these "rights" are in the TOS? BTW, keep in mind that this is a "free" message board, so no "power of the purse", either. I was under the impression you had taken all those clases you mentioned. ?

Again, more "pie in the sky" notions of how things should be. You keep talking about the "real world", yet you keep missing the "reality" of what these "simple message boards" are intended for. Interesting, no?

From here on out, if I post, it will be restricted to the starbucks thread in observance and respect for those people there who I've known for a long while and even then, I may not after a while. I guess the toleration bucket is once again full of BS and needs flushing.

Your perception is accurate. I'd say much of what you consider to be mature is significantly different than what the majority of reasonable and intelligent people consider to be mature, based on what I've seen here.

I'd quote a fairly well known line from Half-Baked, in which Scarface tells off the people at his workplace, but somehow, I'd find that it wouldn't be 'touchy-feely enough'.


However, seeing as I'm clearly not fit for this place, since I am such an oddity that I can't possibly fit into the 'mainstream' here. I'll just have to console myself with actually having a relatively normal life and a healthy amount of sun light.

If you mean have a pleasant posting environment and a set of rules to enforce it, then that's always been the case.

 

Insults are an important part of life? Bullying makes you stronger? Somehow I doubt that.

All through elementary and middle school, most of the other girls would make fun of me every day. It affected me, alright. It made me into a person I eventually realized I didn't want to be. It took me a long time and a lot of support from my friends to become a person I was happy with. That's why I don't think we should be allowed to insult people here. I see it as being a very negative thing. Your so called "social regulation" made me depressed and unable to interact normally with other people.

Let me provide a good example of why flaming and insults should not be allowed. This comes from my own experience on this and other message boards.

I started off in the Lit forum, but slowly transitioned over to the Senate after someone provided me with a link to the Mormonism thread there. Being a Mormon myself, I started answering questions about our beliefs.

I was quickly struck by the atmosphere that the mods had created in the Senate. Occasionally, some users would come into the thread to post insults or lies about our beliefs. In every case, the mods would act quickly and decisively to stop such behavior. The result is that the Mormonism thread has never been locked and is still active after over a year and a half.

Contrast that with a religion message board that my mother frequents. There, the mods take a very hands off approach. As long as you don't swear or post porn, you can do what you want. Any attempt to discuss the Church or our beliefs (even when people ask questions) is quickly turned into a "bash fest".

That environment, where all beliefs and opinions are respected and protected, is the biggest reason that I have remained here on the boards. This is the only message board that I have found so far where a discussion about my religious beliefs has not turned into a big argument. That sort of environment should be protected and encouraged.

Hey now, don't get us caught up in this. FF meets have a tendency to completely ignore any rules or policies that they need to follow on the boards.
