I'm using a pattern where the skirt is dropped and a full circle but panels around the bottom. It was an old one I found at an opportunity shop. I will be using a long sleeved leotard top and dropping it longer.

The cape! Oh, ok Starfire, not got that yet. Bought the rest of the black fabric this morning...

I just got my skirt (it's a flamenco skirt from OnStage.com). The length is great, as is the flow. The only problem I kind of have is that it is a shinny fabric, and by shirt is not.

FYI on using OnStage: They do sizes based on inseam, but if you get a skirt based on your actual inseam, the skirt will stop above the ancles (not correct for the Barriss costume). The skirts have draw-strings, so getting a bigger size to compensate for the costume is not a huge deal.

I made the 'dress' as such today. I decided to make it as a one piece and in black lycra (spandex) as the fabric I chose wasn't that shiny. I used a long sleeved leotard pattern and then extended the bottom past the hips down to above the knees. I then used an old pattern I found in a second hand store to cut large half circle pieces for the bottom, still in the lycra. It flows beautifully and as my daughter is a beanpole (she weighs like 22kg at 8 years old) she looks good in it. She loves the feeling of it and likes the way she can move in it easily. We went to the second hand store this afternoon and got her a belt for $1.00 and will be making the buckle over the weekend. I will be buying cape fabric tomorrow. It's looking good! :D

Well it's done... Top isn't exactly Bariss but it's kinda the best we could find

As for the cape, only a small few steps left and it's completed.

    See Photos :)

Well it took a while to get all the right pieces, a certain Dress from here, material from there, helping hand from a seamstress that we know. But it's come together well :)

Thats great Sakara! I love the make up. I have decided I am going to cut the diamonds out of contact for my daughter as I suspect she will wipe her nose and scratch anything I paint/draw on off withing minutes. :p

I actually used a curtain fabric I found that was embossed. It is heavy and actually makes the hood sit nice, and it billows out nicely when my daughter walks.

The Fabric We used was made from the Old Remnants of a couch, yeah it's got a little weight to it, but the way it sits is the important part :)

I used a curtain fabric that was like a chenille velvet. it had s slub and was textured so that in one light it was silvery and in another more a charcoal grey

WHat sort of fabric did you guys use for the cloak? I'm having a really hard time finding something to use for it.
