ST Based on what you think you know, where does Episode VII rank?

I don't want to rate it before I see it but, For a lot of fans, if not most fans even fans who loved the Prequels like myself, I think we have all been waiting for a sequel to Return Of The Jedi! weather it was right after the movie, 5 years after, or 30 years, whatever. And we are finally getting just that and it is indeed 30 years after Jedi...

 

It's kinda sad to see that worst is the third most popular choice in the polls.

 

Sad but not surprising. Lots of of people out there who think it will stink simply because George isn't really involved. IMO it's a great thing he isn't anywhere near the thing.

 

Stereotyping the top 3 most popular choices...

3rd: OT or Saga fans who are optimistic about this film
4th: OT fans who don't believe anything can ever surpass the OT
7th: Lucas fanboys and/or trolls

 

I'm an OT only fan and voted third. I'm thinking it can surpass Jedi.

 

That honestly sounds about right. I'm definitely in that first stereotype range, although I strongly suspect (based off the strength of everything we've seen up to and including the final trailer) that it could end up as 2nd or potentially first. Whether it ends up in the top two spots is going to depend strongly on the writing and acting, and the emotional impact of the heavier scenes, but based off everything we've been shown and know I'd be surprised if it's not at least third best.

I'm a heavily OT leaning Saga Fan myself, and I'm right there with you. I think there is a good shot it will be better than ROTJ and just behind ESB and ANH

Chances are whoever has it 3rd has it behind ESB and ANH, whoever has it 4th believes that ROTJ is as good as ESB/ANH and whoever has it 7th has either AOTC or TPM in their top 2.

Thing is, seventh place is the place most logical to put it before seeing it, as the only certainty is that those who hate it will feel it's the worst thing ever.
It's much more difficult to think "well, based on the trailer, it'll overall be a bit less good than Return Of a the Jedi, but a bit better than Attack Of The Clones, so it has to be... Fourth"

 

I'll exercise my right and do just that then. The prequels were laughable. Even the actors that were in them said as much. Thank God what looks to be a decent Star Wars movie is out in just under 2 months time!

 

All the threads are equal in their pointlessness. The only thing that matters is the film's release.

TESB > TFA > ROTJ > ANH > ROTS > TPM > AOTC

 

For me, I am making the bold prediction that it will be better than all but ESB. But we will see about that.

 

Is that why ROTS is rated higher than ROTJ on most review sites? Is that why TPM had amazing legs in theatres and earned over 6x its opening weekend in total? Those are facts not opinions...

 

I won't rank a movie I haven't seen yet, however, I have a really good feeling about this one. And it wouldn't surprise me if it became my favorite of the saga.

 

What i'm hoping for after i walk out of the cinema at 2am

TESB >ANH>TFA>ROTJ>ROTS>TPM>AOTC

but like everyone has said, it's impossible as of now.

No, because Sith is better, or at least tied with Jedi (Jedi has plenty of problems too!) and Menace is EASILY better than Clones.

 

I don't see how anyone can rank this film. It hasn't been released yet.
