I have ROTS at the top of the entire franchise to this point.

Obviously... the question is valid since it basically says "based on what you know..."

Based on the three trailers I have seen I can answer that.

I am probably the most cynical and demanding soul on earth. The first movie ANH, I saw in 1982 on a television broadcast. I saw ESB and ROTJ in 1987 on VHS video. I watched TPM on its opening night. AOTC I watched casually on its opening night also and I watched ROTS opening evening.

Having reviewed all of these movies in various forms over the years, at present I still think ANH is the best of them. Without it there would be no further movies. I was an avid fan before it I saw it, learning about the movie off of Topps trading cards. All of the design aspects in that movie are uncanny and timeless. No movie since has made such a unique statement.... until maybe now. So here's how I rank them:

    ANH
    ESB
    ROTJ
    ROTS
    TPM
    AOTC

From what I have seen of TFA... it ranks number one.

Why? Well attention to design wasn't overlooked, even though it might seem like not much new was added. But the real reason for this ranking is the boldness with which this production attempts to tell its story. It's the first time such a level of candor exists in a movie release of this type and scale. You might not understand what I mean, but the filmmakers certainly do and for that reason I rate this as the best of the bunch.

This, Even if you have known every little detail about the film we still can't really judge it until we see it in moving picture.
