Ic The Batman

Location Gotham streets

Batman hit the ground hard and then heard the the Jokers car screech as tit turned sharply Batman looked up to see the car racing towards him, with only a split second to spare he rolled out of the way of fast approaching car. As Batman rolled aside the car missed him by mere inches but as he rolled his left arm went quickly to his belt and pulled a tracker out and slung at the car as it flashed past and then he laid face down and played dead till the car had turned the corner and once he was sure the car had past he was quickly on his feet.

The rain stared to lash down upon him as the heavens of Gotham opened , Batman pulled his grappling gun from his belt and shot it towards the rooftop of a near by building and pulled himself to the roof of the building Batman bent over and held his ribs and moaned under his breath a curse as the pain from the fall crept through his body.

He stood up and checked the the scanner wasn't damaged so he could check just where the Joker was headed, Batman looked at the scanner on his arm and a small smile crept onto his face as the it became clear it was working. The chase was on!

Batman really should be looking for who ever brunt his home to the ground but this was Joker and he simply couldn't allow him to run free around this city, now the chase was on! Batman pulled the remote from his belt and called the tumbler to his location after a short while he heard the roar of the tumblers engines coming close, Batman walked to the edge of the building and peered over and aw the tumbler parked below him. Batman pushed a button on the remote and the roof of the car slid back and with that he lept from the building and into the car.

Once inside the car he pulled the throttle back and quickly caught up with the Jokers car and now it was time to but a stop to this mad man.

"Why? And what do you have against B..Batman?" the figure asked, staring at Scarecrow with that dreaded mask.

"That is neither here nor there," said Scarecrow. "All that matters is that I hate Batman, and would love to see him squirm!"

"And what is your name after all?" asked the ghost, his voice deep and, to a normal person, horrifying.

"I am known as The Scarecrow," he said with a bow. "And what is it you call yourself?"

Havoc had been following a local small-time criminal for hours. He had always used this one to lead him to the large time crooks. He always came through for Havoc. This one truly was stupid. As the man frantically ade his way across a steet, Havoc leapt after him, landing silently several feet behind him and letting him continue. Havoc caught a glimpse of two figures under a street-sign talking. He payed them little heed. Something was strange abotu them. His gaze stayed on them for a long moment, trying to deduce what was so wrong about it. He caught a few words, drifting on the word. "Bat... here... there... hate... squirm... Scarecrow." Then he remembered he had other things to do. besides, they didn't seem to be doing anything illegal. He had a lead, and although it probably would be a dead end, he needed to check it out. With that, he turned and followed after the man again.

After several minutes of tailing the unsuspecting spy, Havoc ended up at a small warehouse. He followed the manin, making no sound at all. The man glanced around nervously, then puled open a hatch and descended. Silently, Havoc followed. Through the winding tunnels of a sewer system, Havoc made his way, stepping in the filthy water silently. He came upon a lighted room, open and very spacious. Silently, he made his way into the shadows, leaping up into the network of pipes that ran along the ceiling. He perched above one man--the man he had been looking for. Joseph Iring. Iring was the biggest supplier of criminal muscle in Gotham. If there were Gotham hitmen hired to take out Wayne and Wayne Manor, Iring would know about it. Havoc sat quietly, listening and keeping close attention on them.

Phantasm watched Scarecrow as he responded, bowed, and returned the question to him/her. Phantasm mentally shrugged, couldn't hurt to at least let out a name. He would go along with this partnership as long as Scarecrow didn't pull anything. He didn't think he would, at least, he wasn't going to think of it just yet anyway.

"I am known as Phantasm," Andrea allowed in her more masculine and eerie sounding voice through the mask. She inclined her head.

IC: The Chameleon (added "The" before alias)
Dregs of Wayne Manor

The Chameleon had strolled through the remains of Wayne Manor, scrutinizing at the calamity. He was half disconcerted and half beatific simultaneously. The attack was quite spontaneous, albeit it was hard to surprise the Chameleon, considering his apprehensive nature.

Gotham was now free for the taking for all of its callous villains, including himself. Of course, he was well aware that he could not ensue his inexorable duties alone, albeit he had already established one allignment. Another couldn't hurt, even though there was the possibility of perfidy. But he knew how to watch his back, and if he even sniffed the faintest scent of treachery, he would do what he did best.

The Chameleon surveyed the area, or what was left of it. Shattered walls litered the once clean floor, along with shattered glass and pictures ripped to shreds. As he made his way, he had to kick a few pieces of debris out of his path. It was apt to appear odd seeing an inert object move without any known force acting upon it, for the Chameleon was currently utilizing his exotic dexterity of blending in with the background. If one looked closely, they could probably notice the faint outline of the Chameleon's body, for he was not conclusively invisible.

He slowly made his way to the den of the manor, which was quite immaculate compared to the rest of the voluminous mansion. In the middle sat a girl dressed in some sort of Halloween costume, appearing in her early teenaged years and her face ensconced in her knees. "I don't know where to go..." she mumbled to herself.

The oppurtunity had revealed itself, and the Chameleon would jump at the chance. A girl in her antecedent teenaged years was easily swayed, and the Chameleon's negotiation skills were highly venerable. He deactivated his power and became completely visible, kicking a piece of debris and causing a noise to reverberate throughout the capacious room so as to not alarm the young girl by his voice.

"With me would be a start," he articulated with a soothing, yet astute voice. "I mean you no harm, I would just like to talk."

Carrie looked up. "talk away. I can't stay here forever." she said.

Her hair was covered in ash and her heart felt as if it was being coated in the stuff. A picture of her and Bruce lay broken a few feet from her. His hand rested on her shoulder. Carrie was smiling into the camera and Bruce was almost smiling. Alferd had taken the picture a few days after she had become part of the family.

Carrie took the piture from the broken glass and tucked it in her utility belt alone with her sling shot. "I'm listening." she said.

Dregs of Wayne Manor; Den

The Chameleon rubbed his black goatee with his black, fingerless leather glove as he awaited a response from the young girl hunched before him. She appeared bereaved, understandably so, and her ash-filled hair overhung her face like a curtain. She finally gandered up at the tall man adorned with a black trenchcoat with black armor beneath it, her visage reflecting her feelings.

"Talk away. I can't stay here forever." She lifted a portrait of Bruce Wayne and a young girl, most likely herself, and stuffed it inside of her utility belt. "I'm listening."

The Chameleon folded his hands in front of his body in a negotiating fashion, a motion which he had seen done by some of the transcendent businessmen in Gotham. "As you have already implied, you have nowhere to go. You have been left vagabond by a most unfortunate event." He looked around the defaced mansion as he said this. "I know only too much how you feel. We are alike in many ways. We've been abandoned, with nowhere to run. We feel that our efforts to outrun life are ultimately futile, and we are correct. However, you have a distinct advantage. Unlike I did, you now have a choice. You can come with me, and I can make your life better than it ever was before. You can live in luxury, with anything you want right by your side, no problems, no catches. I urge you to accept my offer, as I care for all of the desolate children who have been effected by this calamity. You will be the first of many improved lives. Please." He smiled at the girl, shielding his villainous personality from her vision, and outstretched his hand.

Real Name: Jim Holden
Alias: Nightstalker
Age: 22
Height: 6'0"
Gender: Male
Build: athletic, somewhat muscular
Eye Color: green (slits for pupils, instead of typical circles)
Hair Color/Style: black, short
Personality: Not the most outgoing person ever, he likes to stay unnoticed
Weaknesses: Sunlight (weakens him)
Alliance: usually himself, but has been known to team up on occassion
Street Clothing: Beat-up jeans, black t-shirt, Gotham Knights jacket, Gotham Knights baseball cap, sunglasses
Costume: black combat suit, gloves, a cloak, and solid black mask, with red eyeholes
Bio: Jim Holden was born in Gotham City. His father was American, and his mother was Romanian. Jim grew up in a "safer" part of Gotham, and was a fairly normal kid. Jim had seen the Dark Knight on their rooftop on more than one occassion, and pretty much worshiped the Caped Crusader. When he turned 14, though, he learned a terrible secret - his mother was part vampire. That night, Jim's mother told her son of the story that spanned generations, the story of the events that tainted her family with the mark of the vampire. That night, Jim learned that he carried that vampire taint as well. But Jim was also told that, over the years, that his mother's ancestors had become more resilient to the vampire's different banes (sunlight, garlic, crosses). So when Jim turned 16, the vampiric effects began to show. It was during this time that the Joker murdered Jim's father. But Batman eventually caught the Joker, sending him to Arkham. A few weeks later, several Gothamites began disappearing. Every night, more would disappear. Jim began to notice something different about his mother, bringing her into suspicion. She had gone in a few days from pale and thin to rich-skinned and fit. Upon confronting his mother, Jim learned that she had been draining the missing people of Gotham, giving her more power. Jim tried to keep her from going out again, but only received her wrath. Jim chased his mother across Gotham, trying to stop her, but to no avail. Eventually, Jim's mother and Batman had a showdown. The Batman drove a stake through the vampiress' heart, killing her. Jim was devastated. Sure, she had killed people, but that woman was his mom. Jim swore that night he would avenge his mother to Batman's face, and left Gotham. He trained himself in hand-to-hand combat and martial arts, adding to his already astounding strength, doing everything he could to try to be a match for the Dark Knight. When he returned, he began terrorizing Gotham, trying to lure out the Batman. But the Caped Crusader never showed. Enraged, Jim left Gotham again, biding his time. One night, after returning, the Batman attacked Jim unawares, and locked him up in Arkham. Jim spent very little time there, however, as an attack on the Asylum freed all of its inhabitants. Now, it is only a matter of time before Jim wreaks his vengeance upon Gotham City.

Robin arrived to the ruins of Wayne Manor, but he was not alone.

"Damn it!" He cursed as he stood from his motorcycle. Which was parked safely out of sight.

He gritted his teeth and strode up to them both.

"What's going on?" Robin asked, his tone angry and grim.

Robin knew Carrie, maybe not too well, but he did know her. She was close with Bruce, she must've felt terrible for what had happened. Robin's cold heart gave no care towards the Dark Knight, even now he didn't care if he was alive or dead.

"And who are you?" Robin asked, looking to the man.

IC NIGHTSTALKER:

Gotham City. Breeding ground of crime, and home to the legendary Batman. The city was also home to some of the most evil villains ever to roam the earth. Home to Arkham Asylum, the building many of the villains had come to know - and hate. The Batman had suceeded in locking away all of his villains in the Asylum - or, so he thought. Someone had come along and broken into the Asylum, and released all of its inhabitants. One such person was Jim Holden, better known to his victims as the Nightstalker.

Jim's cell door had just been jarred open moments ago. The door, at least a foot thick, had kept Jim's supernatural strength from breaking out too easily. But now, it had been opened, its creaking beckoning to the man. The lights flickered now, and the noises from the hallway drew Jim out. The hallway was dark, and dank. Guards were running around, barking orders, shooting various forms of weapons into the chaos. The moldy walls of the hallway glistened with blood - more from the guards than the occupants of the cells. Jim watched on as the guards were overwhelmed by the various criminals. The guards were stabbed, bludgeoned, or hacked apart by the attackers.

Jim proceeded dow the hallway, away from the action, towards the storage room, where his clothes had been stored. The dim lighst flickered as he walked, his footsteps sloshing in the small puddles on the uneven floor, probably created by some leak in the roofing. His eyes searched the hall, watching for any signs of danger. He came to the storage room, and peered inside. A lone guard stood there, his back turned, looking over the inventory, oblivious the chaos outside.

Jim quietly walked up behind the guard. Opening his mouth, two long fangs slid out. Grabbing the guard by the shoulder, Jim spun the man around, and plunged his fangs into the man's artery. The guard fell to the floor, holding his neck in a rapidly growing pool of blood, gasping his final breaths.

Jim would have to get his fill later. This wasn't the time, nor place.

Browsing the room, he found his clothing. Changing from his orange jumpsuit into his ordinary clothes, he continued looking, when he found his costume. The black outfit would cover his entire body, with a cloak to cover his face and provide a quasi-cape. The mask was pure black, with two red slits for eyeholes. Shoving the costume into a bag, Jim turned, and walked out of the room, down the hallway to the nearest exit. A hole had been blown in the side of the hallway, so Jim walked out across the debris, and to the grounds of the Asylum.

Many of the prisoners were running free now, hooting and hollering in the night, their voices echoing here and there. Jim strolled over the front parking lot, and saw a man getting into his car. Walking over, he punched through the window. The man, horrified, jumped out the opposite end of the vehicle, leaving the keys in the ignition. Jim hopped into the car, closed the passenger side door, and drove off, leaving the man in the company of all the insane people of Arkham Asylum. He drove away from the building, making it across the bridge moments before police began arriving on the scene. The wailing of the sirens and the flashing blue lights sped past Jim, as he drove down a side-road, out of sight of the cops.

Jim was free. And the Nightstalker could once again roam Gotham City.

"What's going on?" Robin asked, his voice reflecting his appearance. He looked at the Chameleon through his masked eyes. "And who are you?"

The Chameleon glowered at the teenaged vigilante, his eyebrows narrowed and his gaze fixed. "You've just interrupted my conversation," he said, a hint of contravention in his articulation. "Of course, after this calamity it is to be expected that a loyal citizen of this... disconsolate city cannot carry on a successful conversation without some form of encumbrance. I could ask you the same thing, for, after all, I was here first." He flashed a sly grin. "Tell me why I should tell you who I am, taking into consideration your curt tone."

Robin turned again towards the masked man. He came here for a PURPOSE; to search The Cave. He couldn't do that with someone else around.

"Listen," Robin started, his tone threatening. "This is a murder scene, you shouldn't be here." Robin continued, standing only inches away from the man. "I'm investigating the murder of Bruce Wayne, now I suggest you leave."

IC: The Chameleon
Dregs of Wayne Manor

[blockquote]The Chameleon rolled his eyes in annoyance as the Catgirl hugged Robin and he slowly separated himself from her. Did the boy contain no sympathy? Apparently, Bruce Wayne was like a father to the young girl, and there were rumors promptly spreading that the billionaire entrepreneur was deceased. Obviously the girl did not know where to turn, and Robin appeared as if he didn't care. All the more reason for her to side with the Chameleon.

Robin approached the Chameleon and looked up to him, mere inches away.

"Listen," he said with an irascible nature. "This is a murder scene, you shouldn't be here. I'm investigating the murder of Bruce Wayne, now I suggest you leave. This is your only warning."

The Chameleon chuckled and looked towards the girl. "You'll have to excuse the boy wonder here, young lady. It seems this event has gotten him all shaken up." He turned back to Robin and erased his smile. "And you. If you were investigating the scene, a scene in which I see no point in judging it as a crime scene as of yet, as it appears only as a natural disaster, then would you not have been here already, searching for clues rather than making futile efforts in solving false leads? Not to worry my boy." He put his hand on the caped figure's shoulder. "Your raging hormones will calm down soon, and maturity will eventually sprout within your mind... hopefully."

Without awaiting a response from Robin, he turned to Catgirl. "My dear, I wish to ask you but one question, if I may. Why stay here, in this wretched hive of residual fortune, wasting your life with this most curt boy who shoves you away when you attempt to hug him? A boy who jumps to conclusions much to quickly for his own good." After the last sentence, The Chameleon turned his face and grimaced at Robin, then turned back to the girl. "But you can escape all this by coming with me. I have friends, my dear, ones who will make it a top priority in providing you with all the care and necessities that you desire. I have nothing to hide, and I sincerely hope that you trust me." He turned back to Robin, but his sentence was directed towards Robin. "Why trust someone who cowers behind a mask for a living?" "This IS an investigation. One which I am carrying out," Robin defended. "I'm the detective. So maybe you should shove it and back off."

As the man laid his hand on Robin's shoulder, the young Jason could've easily snapped his arm. He breathed in from what seemed like a eternity, and let it out as the man spoke to Catgirl.

Robin clenched his fists. Finally he could take it no longer. Swiftly he grabbed the man by his arm and twisted it, almost to it's breaking point.

The young man's grip held tight as he spoke in a deadly mannor.

"I tried reasoning with you," he started, speaking through his teeth. "Leave the girl alove or I'll snap your neck."

Robin pulled back the man's arm back even more. To better show his point.

"Got it memorized?" He asked grimly. "When I let you go, walk away, or I'll kill you right here."

Robin then shoved the man forcefully to the ground. Jason looked to Carrie, his mask hiding any emotion, he spoke with dryly:

"Do not follow anything he says, do you understand me?" Robin said, barely above a whisper. It was more of an order.

"Not unless I am given one first or at the same time. To be safe, you understand hopefully."

Underneath the mask, this new partner of hers, could be someone she knew during her time in Jamaica, Italy, China, or even France. And with the life she had lead in those countries in her leave of Gotham City...that would be dangerous if it was. The chances were highly unlikely, but to be safe was key.

The batmobile weaved in and out of the on coming traffic trying to catch the mad man who was just ahead, in the car Batman gritted his teeth he was to close now to let Joker slip out of his grasp again no matter what trouble he was in he knew he had to get the clown prince of crime off the streets.

The another sound pierced through the Gotham night and this time it wasn't the sound of shots being fired but the sound of 4 Gotham pd car sirens, dam it. Now what was he to do now go after Joker or risk getting into anything with the Gpd, what was he going to do?

He came to a junction that turnt off and towards the country side and with that Batman spun the Tumbler off on to the junction with a hard left turn smashing into the side of one cop car which spun into the side wall now in the junction Batman pulled hard on the throttle and put the car into stealth mode and then realized just where he was heading, the house.

After a short drive he pulled the car over some 40 meter's before the house and jumped out of the tumbler, he was parked in the woods behind the house or what was the house, and put the shields up on the car and began slowly towards the wreck that was Wayne manor, he stayed almost invisible in the Gotham night once he came closer to the house he heard what sounded like raised voices in some sort of argument. With out thinking Batman pulled a small scope from his belt walked towards a large tree and began to watch the events taking place in front of him.

To his surprise it Jason and Carrie in some sort of conflict with another man whom Batman had never seen before perhaps this man had some clues to just what had taken place at his home but for now he would just watch as it looked like Jason had this well under his control but you never knew with him if his temper would snap and Bruce couldn't have anything happen in case this man did have any information to the nights events

IC: Havoc

Havoc strolled down the streets of gotham about an hour later. He had heard nothing of value from the gang members, adn it aggrivated him. Apparently, it was someone out of Gotham. Havoc even "approached" Iring and questioned him about the attack. Iring was extremely sincere in his denial of any knowledge or involvement. Conversations with Havoc tende dto do that to people. Havoc left him, and was now here, wandering the streets of Gotham. It bugged him that he had no leads whatsoever. He hated it, actually. He didn't know what to do, so he made his way towards the ruins of Wayne Manor to speak with Robin.

IC NIGHTSTALKER:

The night had worn on. The number of sirens heading for Arkham had grown. And several were on to Jim and his stolen car.

Jim weaved through the tight confines of that area of Gotham, the police cars expertly following. A tight left here, and a second later, a tight right turn there. The chase had been going for a while now, and a helicopter had joined the scene, tracking the car-jacker. Jim did his best he could to shake the five officers chasing him, but it was no use. He couldn't stay out all night...

Jim entered the better area of Gotham, where the roads widened, and the skyscrapers came into view. Jim weaved left and right, dodging the traffic littering the road. At the end of one of the streets, two police cars were parked at either side.

Spike strips.

Jim made a hard right turn, onto the sidewalk. Banging his vehicle against the side of the buildings, and sending pedestrians screaming here and there, he approached the police cars. He could see the white GCPD emblazoned on the blue doors. The cop closest to him backed up his car, blocking his way. It was over.

Jim slammed on the brakes, reducing his speed, but not fast enough. The car slammed into the police car, spinning it off of the sidewalk. The front of the car was smashed back, the crumpled hood blocking view. The pursuing police cars surrounded Jim, got out, and aimed their weapons towards him.

"We have you surrounded," the man with the megaphone said, "Come out with your hands up!"

Jim mulled over the possibilities in his mind. He could give himself up, but the night was young - he still had his powers. He would be captured like a criminal - not some wannabe.

Opening the passenger side door, he walked out. The police surrounded him, their weapons trained on their captive. Meanwhile, Jim was changing into his outfit. Slipping the mask over his face, he clicked the eyepieces on, making them glow a blood-red hue. Placing the hood of his cloak over his head, and putting on his combat suit, he bundled his street clothes under his arm. Then he sprung out of his car.

The Nightstalker leapt out of the vehicle, grasping the nearby building. Several shots were fired at the inhuman fiend, but none of them hit, being dodged with inhuman speed.

Nigthtstalker would have to hurry. The police would keep coming. And he was only one person, no matter how strong he was - day would come. He made it to the top of the building, only to find several SWAT officers waiting for him. Nightstalker shrugged, and walked up to the officers.

"Fun," Nightstalker said to no one in particular. The guards were perplexed, and let their guard down for a second.

That was all he needed.

Nightstalker jumped on one of the guards, and pulled one of the pins on his grenades. Panic took over the men, as the ticking increased.

THOOM!!!

Shrapnel punctured the Nighstalker, piercing the suit, and entering flesh. The mask managed to hold itself together, while the cloak was destroyed. The force of the blow knocked Nightstalker back, towards the edge of the rooftop. Once the smoke cleared, all of the officers were on the ground - either dead, or pretty much. The pieces of metal in Nightstalker's skin began to fall out, pinging to the ground. The night was waning. Nightstalker couldn't be out much longer.

Leaping down the opposite side of the building, Nightstalker made his way down the different alleys, towards, without explanation, towards Wayne Manor. The holey cloak swirled behind him as he walked, whilst Nightstalker was peering here and there through his eyepieces. As he walked, he happened upon a person dressed in black clothes. His first true victim.

Slinking up behind him, he slipped his mask back, just enough to reveal his mouth. Smiling, two fangs extended from his gums. He chuckled slightly, and prepared for the kill.
