ST The Porg Thread (was "Battle Puffins" and "Porg Backlash?")

So I guess these porgs are going to be pesky trouble makers. I wonder what mishaps they are going to create.

 

Too much cuteness! The possible Porg/Chewie dynamic reminds me of Donald Duck and Chip and Dale.

I hope the porgs intend to conquer the galaxy. Somewhere on Ahch-To lies a gigantic Porg armada.

as they say the more cute something is the more likely to end up being deadly.

when they go to conquer other planets, no one can hurt them because they are too cute.

Luke is there because he made a deal that he'll get a prominent role in the new Porg Order if he helps them.

 

Episode IX: Rise of the Porgs

 

I'm going to be debbie downer over here and reveal that the porg design does nothing for me. My first instinct is I'd rather see Chewie interact with Maz or a Resistance nurse than a bunch of penguin hamsters. The ewoks never bothered me, but they don't excite me either, and that's exactly what comes to mind when I see the design of these little guys running around in groups. That said, I'm open to them becoming interesting in their portrayal. To that end I hope they have a vicious/scary side. Not of the ewok variety where they string up our heroes to eat them, but of the little monster variety. It would be unexpected and potentially keep it interesting.

Edit ~ now I made myself think of Nibbler from Futurama and I got kind of excited. If they're a bunch of Nibblers, I'm down. Futurama is my boo

 

According to MSW, they are Gremliny (or Nibblery) when baring their teeth. So you may get your wish here.

That said, kittens and puppies are cute. As are penguins and hamsters. So why no cute in Star Wars?

 

Is it wrong that I, a grown man, wants to read this book? December needs to get here fast.

 

If it's wrong, I want to be wrong too. That book's just too adorable to resist.

 

I just hope it's an original story that doesn't happen in the movie. I could care less about those kids book that re-adapt scenes from a movie.

 

Yeah! **** those books!

 

readaptations are cool for kids who like them, but I personally never cared for that even as a kid. I used to look through books that were related to movies I liked. But once I see it's a readaptation I always put it back on the shelf, on to the next book.

 

Out of all the star wars books coming out this December, this is the one I'm looking forward to the most!
