    Ah, well.

To another thing that's been bugging me, why can't the animation we saw in the trailer be a series or movie?

Yes, it's probably expensive, but really, wouldn't they be able to earn that money back and more?

I'm actually more interested in the story of Battlefront II than the Last Jedi's

I think they fit as a kind of Air Force Spec Ops, while SCAR is a bit like Delta Force (drawing specialists from multiple sources), with the Death Troopers being more like Navy SEALS (a purpose built unit), and the Storm Commandos being like the Special Activities Division. And part of the reason why we don't see them in Vader's forces is because, like Charlemagne19 said, is that Stormtroopers are like Marines, being a much larger organization that is more like skilled conventional forces, and that's more Vader's style.

And anybody else think our protagonist in this game looks like she's literally designed to be the opposite of Jyn Erso? British-accented initially reluctant Rebel saying "Rebellions are built on hope" vs American accented Imperial fanatic saying "Hope cannot save them!"

Do you guys think Yavin 4 will somehow appear in the campaign, or only as a multiplayer map? Anyway, one of the (few) thing I liked in the first one was all the wildlife they added on the maps. I wonder what whill pop up on Yavin 4... my money's on whisper birds, woolamanders, piranha beetles, lizard crabs, runyips. Skreegs, mamiens, aquatic gundarks, klikniks, leviathan grubs, and crystal snakes would be cool.

    Jyn Erso/ Iden Versio

Surely I'm not the only one who sees the similarities ;)

Depends on how one defines "Special Forces."

In the US, for example, people often say "special forces" when they mean "special operations," at least with respect to the Army (but arguably all the services). "Special Forces" is a very particular unit, while "special operations" is the broad term to encompass units with, well, specialized missions.

The reason I bring this up, though, is that special operations is so broad as to actually encompass tasks that would otherwise be handled by units not generally considered special operations. Take, for example, the US Army 75th Ranger Regiment. They do engage in plenty of planned operations, but they can also be used as a contingency force called into action quickly with little preparation. Their training is what actually enables them to be thrown into developing engagements with a better hope of success than regular line units.

The trailer was awesome and the story is definitely interesting. Also the fact that they brought up canon novels when first piecing together the story for the game makes me think we will see several cameos of characters from the NEU.

Only thing that slightly worries me is that they seem to have made this game pretty quickly. They said they started planning the game while TFA was in theaters and it is going to be released this November. That is less than two years for production which is a very short period for video games these days. Naughty Dog for instance usually spends four to five years creating their games.

I'm not much of a video game person, but the visuals of this game and its precursors are quite stunning. And it has a story to go along with it this time and the story sounds very interesting.

Also like the idea of playing as Kylo, seems like a good character to go on a rampage with. :p

Hello. I was in the room when they announced it. I can confirm that they did in fact appear to have created this campaign specifically for me.

Also, I should note they played a special video for us that was not on the stream. We saw an in-game cutscene, and the creepy red guy does indeed have the Palpatine holo face and explicitly tells Versio to execute Operation Cinder.

    So.

so what the Chance of Rogue Squadron showing up as antagonist in the Campaign will be a great opportunity to Re-Canonize Tycho Celchu and CORRAN HORN who I do not have a problem if he is not Force-sensitive in the new canon

First Imperial perspective game since Tie fighter? Hope we get to see Rae Sloane, Rogue Squadron would be interesting but I don't think they'd be the main antagonist perhaps just a focus on Luke and the major rebels for killing the Emperor.

Very cool. Still a little worried about the quick development period. Hopefully it will be a well thought game without many bugs. And won't end up being a game that was rushed just to get it out prior to TLJ.

I'm not as worried about that really, we're 7 months out from release still and from the sound of it they had a studio working on each component part of the game (SP, MP, Space battles) plus to some extent they've already got the foundation in place with the previous game whereas with that they were starting from scratch and Disney probably on their backs to get it out in time for TFA. With that said anything is possible so I'm not going to be looking at pre-ordering until much nearer launch day when we've seen some more.

I saw a video from Battlefront Updates and at one point he showed a tweet where a developer admitted that Clones weren't shown in the trailer because the models aren't fully finished.

Seven months away from release and one quarter of the games main models aren't presentable?

I think you're blowing that statement out of proportion. A few of the Clone Wars models weren't ready, that's all it means, certainly not "one quarter of the games main models." Really not uncommon in game design, they probably just focused on the OT/ST content first because those are the eras in which the campaign is taking place.

Also the ships at the top of the poster are Providence-class dreadnoughts and Venator-class Star Destroyers

So that is a good sign

This campaign looks so cool, I finally decided to spend $19 and buy the Ultimate Edition of Battlefront (I) (includes all the DLC) for PC on Origin so I could get in some familiarity with the controls/dynamics, and soak in the really cool locations to get me pumped for BFII. It's a lot of fun for a session or so at a time. Really looking forward to the story-driven campaign for II, especially since I will definitely be listening to the Audio version of Inferno Squad. Hype machine worked, guys.

This might be old news, but it appears the campaign is being written by the talent that wrote Spec Ops: The Line, aka possibly the best written shooter ever (don't let the generic name fool you).

More than most things, this really excites me

Very interesting interview regarding the game's storytelling with game director Mark Thompson and Story Group's Steve Blank. They discuss developing a post-ROTJ story, the significance of a loyal Imperial's perspective, and the terms "authentic" versus "canon": http://www.glixel.com/interviews/qa-star-wars-battlefront-2-story-with-ea-and-lucasfilm-w477360

Just think, if Phasma is playable during the campaign and razes hell, people will finally be able to shut up about her ineffectiveness

Now if only there was a Boba Fett chapter........

Course, Boba Fett being more badass in auxiliary works rather than the movies just made people complain about the auxiliary works.....

The original Battlefront 2's campaign was also from an imperial perspective.

Well, the problem is that Phasma being overly efficient everywhere else makes her incompetence in TFA all the more glaring. It doesn't actually mends how bad her character was, it highlights it.

This, exactly. My favorite image of Phasma is basically a loyal, fanatical idiot: someone who's an excellent fighter, maybe even a good commander in small scale engagements, but also kind of a dunce. Like I said in another thread, a Looney Tunes character. Hell, it would be more unique than yet another "armored badass".

Interesting that the campaign seems like it will extensively involve Luke Skywalker.

Maybe Luke kills (in self defence obviously) one of Inferno Squads members causing Versio to be even more p*****

This is my expectation. Looked like he was at Jakku, and the guy who said "That's the point, Sergeant" was pointing his blaster at Luke. So my guess is Luke kills him and he just so happens to be Versio's closest friend on the team.
