looks like glenn beck has finally decided to go full on jim jones. he's been kind of moving towards this since leaving FOX but its nice to see a concrete plan for the end game. yase. YASE
i saw that rogue posted it, knew it was going to be a glenn beck thread, and for some reason clicked anyway.
Let him try it. It'll be funny to watch all of his "intellectual" ideas and political philosophies come crashing down in flames all around his ears.
I knew what this was but I clicked hoping it would have been hijacked into a Beck / Jeff Beck youtube thread. I see it came close, but no points this round.
On the plus side, the catastrophic failure of this thing will make it abundantly clear that Objectivism is a complete joke.
Look, people get worked up about Glenn Beck, but his schtick really is all just an act. I remember listening to his radio show back in the early 2000s, before he got the TV show, and he really was, at that time, one of the more moderate, sensible, and reasonable of the right-wing talkers. Then all of a sudden someone gives him this TV show, and immediately he turns into a wild-eyed, red-faced, tear-streaked, hollering conspiracy kook. You can guess what happened - someone at the network gave him a talking-to and told him that if he wanted ratings he was going to have to crank it up to 11, and that's exactly what he did. When that worked, he stuck with it. Anyhow, the most harm that will come out of this is that some schmucks will buy some overpriced real estate from whoever Beck's partner in all of this is. But hey - it's their money; they can spend it however they like.
Difference between Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and say, to toss out one more example, Bill O'Reilly, is that with Limbaugh and O'Reilly, I do believe most of their schtick is, indeed, an act to get ratings for their shows (even I do believe they truly are misogynist pricks) and O'Reilly does come up for air every now and again with some sense (like the Westboro idiots) I really do believe and fear that Beck may have bought into his own delusions and conspiracy theories, and if he's heading down the path of making himself some type of prophet like - leader, well we've seen in the past how well it ends for those types and their followers.
I can honestly say that I'm old enough that I remember when Bill O'Reilly was a respectable journalist, and John Stewart was a funny comedian! That'll show you how old *I* am!
