Chic, IL Beer club! Take 3!

El Presidente and I hatched this idea tonight. Beer club!

We love beer! It is a great great thing. The beer thread is awesome but sharing a beer with a fellow beer lover is divine as Mr. Kast and I discovered tonight. He sampled the godlike powers of The Yeti with me. Both of us are MORE than ready to conquer the Chicago winter now.

The basic idea is we'd meet once a month either at someone's place or at a pub/brewery and have a few pints and discuss the finer points of beer.

This could be the start of an awesome new CF club. Interested? YES! I knew you would be!

Are non-beer drinkers allowed to join? I could hang out and review the pub/breweries' pretzels and waitresses.

And no, I don't like beer. Not unlike mushrooms, strip clubs and vegas, beer is one of those things that I never developed a taste for.

On topic: I think this is a great idea and relevant to the interests of a large percentage of CF members. Since it's a bit of a commute for me (also, I don't like the taste of beer), I'll just head to Red Rock for lunch and have a frosty glass** while I think about how much I miss you guys.

You sir had better be able to behave yourself after a few drinks.

A few thoughts on this new endeavor we are about to embark upon.

1-This is NOT Drunk Club. If you think the sole purpose of this is to get blitzed out of your mind, you are dead wrong. If that is what you want, this is not the place for you.
2-See 1
3-We can meet at pubs around town and in the burbs as well as at folks houses.
4-Frequency I'm thinking is no more than once per month. Any more than that we will degenerate into rule #1 which is one thing we'd like to prevent.
5-Anyone can come and drink whatever they like but the focus will ALWAYS be the beer.
6-Keep it interesting and new. If you can find it at Jewel it is probably too common a beer.

What do you guys think?

 

I could follow those rules. I am interested in finding a drink that would suit my tastes. I like to find a beer that I won't make faces and cringe while drinking.

 

I would like to initiate a CF Out-Of-Towners Virtual Beer Club Adjunct, meeting on or around the designated time of CF's Official Beer Club, in which we will all get beers at our private homes and chat on IM together.

I would like to name this club the Lame Club. I will be its President.

Anyhoo, I'm very excited for this new venture. Hopefully we can get something going soon. With kids at home, it's nice to get out to enjoy some good brew and good company!!

I'm in for this! It sounds great!

I also love Hala Kahiki!! But sadly, they do not serve beer. I think there's one drink on the menu that has beer in it, but they don't serve it separately.

I'm up for going there anyway, though. I think the last time I went was with Jason and Erica. And that was a really long time ago.

Goat and I thought of having special beer nights, like Irish or German beer nights where everyone brings a different brew from that country we'll feature that night.

From what I hear coming from Irish-Americans, this place is the best Irish Bar west of the Emerald Isles. My lady and I found this place while looking at our current apartment and it sold us on the neighborhood(which is now about 90% Polish). Great beer and also the best cheeseburgers.
