Shouldn't you drop the 'H' of 'head', too then...?

Or should I just go back to the Monastery and keep quiet...??

    :p

It's not really an unreasonable argument, if you really want to go back and look at bands that have been around as long like the Cure, or Morrissey's work both with the Smiths and his solo career. The lyrics alone can be looked at as the roots of what would eventually "blossom" into full out emo acts. Robert Smith and Morrissey were both(especially at the peak of their careers) very feminine in appearance(not unlike most members of emo bands, and had one happy song for like every 25 gloomy songs. They didn't seem to inspire the whole self-mutilation thing though, at least not as much as some of these crappy new bands do.

The only real difference is that bands like the Cure and the Smiths rule, and 99% of these new emo bands suck formica countertops.

Lyrics wise, any band can be classified as being emo because they all make at least one of those soppy cry in your beer kind of songs.

    But this is an atrocity.
